Consulate General Fails Bibi During UNGA
Despite one of his most moving and important speeches during the United Nations General Assembly the other day, Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu’s appearance will be promoted by his opponents with pictures of former allies walking out in protest of him and the after meeting with powerless content creators and social media influencers.
While the former was expected and beyond control, the strategy of the office of the Consulate General representing the state of Israel and its leader, the Prime Minister to befriend a small group of people who have little ability to bring change is what one person who supports Bibi as “embarrassing.”
If this group, who seems to also be promoting and endorsing Eric Adams for Mayor in the election this November, were so successful, he wouldn’t be in last place in every poll and their tweets and reposts and tagging each other would have brought home the hostages and end antisemitism everywhere.
A smart Consulate team would have invited all the candidates including Curtis Sliwa and Andrew Cuomo. Let me remind the folks sitting in the offices of the Consulate that Curtis Sliwa and his Guardian Angels were protecting Jews visiting and rallying in support of Israel for decades, probably longer than some of the staff has lived.
The Embassy is not Gracie Mansion. It shouldn’t look like a campaign headquarters. It could include representatives from neighboring states, such as both New Jersey gubernatorial candidates. (From first draft to final publication, Eric Adams dropped out of the race for mayor)
The Consulate General’s office is supposed to represent all Jews and all Zionists. Since these content influencers haven’t brought home the hostages or discourage New Yorkers from energizing a campaign for a vile antisemite that wants to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu, the point is proven that they are practically useless. Need proof, ask executives in the fashion industry in New York how a multi billion dollar industry has collapsed.
Here are some examples of smart marketing strategies to combat the opposition of Israel and its leadership, real people, unsung heroes and representatives from all backgrounds and communities:
- Leaders and volunteers who have walked every Sunday morning through snow and heatwaves, alone or with hundreds, sometimes with hostages, their families or soldiers on #bringthemhome runs.
- American lone soldiers and their families and organizations like Nerut who the office seems to ignore.
- Black leaders like Bill Tingling, who runs a Holocaust education program for minority public school students or Joe Pinion, political analyst on Newsmax and CNN who spoke up for Israel before October 7th.
- Board Members of organizations like Israel Bonds and One Israel Fund. Mamdani singled both Israel Bonds and One Israel Fund as his first priority to try and stop in New York.
- American parents or sons and daughters of those who made Aliyah, especially since October 7th and show gratitude towards American families for the “gift” of adding to the population in Israel.
- Leaders of Hillels and Chabad on Campus on colleges and universities who fight antisemitism and anti Zionism everyday within the Tri State area.
- Restaurant and Jewish storefronts owners and staff that have been targeted with graffiti, theft, vandalism and arson who lost livelihoods and valuable possessions that can never be replaced.
These are just a few ideas that I thought of off the top of my head within minutes and without a staff or budget to create and execute them.
When I was invited to meet the Prime Minister during the General Assembly week of events a few years ago, the meeting included representatives from countries benefiting from irrigation technology and building international professional relationships. It was so befitting our leader, our country and international Jewry and Zionism.
This year, we should have reminded those who hate us that without us they probably couldn’t get to The United Nations General Assembly without their Israeli creation called Waze.
