Current Affairs Towards Resolution

“All wisdom is not new wisdom, and the past should be studied if the future is to be successfully encountered.” [Winston Churchill]

Of two subjects which constitute the need for resolution over many years, one constitutes a pre-Trump electoral pledge. Today, it is labeled, “The Trump Peace Plan”. The other concerns Jonathan Pollard.

Contrary to common knowledge, many Arab Palestinian leaders are fully aware of the origins of their people. History records Egyptian-born Yasser Arafat proclaiming, “The Palestinian people have no national identity. I, Yasser Arafat, man of destiny will give them that identity through conflict with Israel.”[ Alan Hart, ‘Arafat, Terrorist or Peace-maker?’, Sedgwick Jackson , Ltd, 1948.

Zuheir Mohsen, leader of the pro-Syria as-Sa’iqa faction of the PLO, quoted in the Dutch newspaper, Trouw, March 1977; “It is only for political reasons that we carefully underline our Palestinian identity—yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity serves only tactical purposes. The founding of a Palestinian state is a new tool in the continuing battle against Israel.”

Walid Shoebat, ex “Palestinian “Arab leader, Im Nin’halu: “As I lived in Palestine, everyone I knew could trace their heritage back to the original country their great grandparents came from. Everyone knew their origin was not from Canaanites, but ironically this is the kind of stuff our education in the Middle East included. The fact is that today’s “Palestinians” are immigrants from the surrounding nations!

I grew up well knowing the history and origin’s of today’s “Palestinians” as being fro Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Morocco,; Christians from Greece, Muslim Sherkas from Russia, Muslims from Bosnia, and the Jordanians next door.
My grandfather, who was a dignitary in Bethlehem, almost lost his life by Abdul Qader Al-Husseni [the leader of the Palestinian revolution] after being accused of selling land to Jews, He used to tell us that his village Beit Sahur [The Shepherds Fields] in Bethlehem county was empty before his father settled in the area with six other families. The town has now grown to 30,000 inhabitants.”

Shoebat acknowledged the lie he was fighting for and the truth he was fighting against as expressed hereunder:

“Why is it that on July 4th, 1967 I was a Jordanian and overnight I became a Palestinian? We did not particularly mind Jordanian rule. The teaching of the destruction of Israel was a definite part of the curriculum, but we considered ourselves Jordanian until the Jews returned to Jerusalem. Then all of the sudden we were Jordanians – they removed the star from the Jordanian flag and all at once we had a Palestinian flag.

When I finally realized the lies and myths I was taught, it is my duty as a righteous person to speak out.”
Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi, Syrian Arab leader to British Peel Commission, 1937:”There is no such country as Palestine. ‘Palestine’ is a term the Zionists invented. There is no Palestine in the Bible. Our country was for centuries part of Syria. ‘Palestine’ is alien to us. It is the Zionists who introduced it.”

Farid Kassab, a famous Syrian author in 1906 expressed the view ,uniformly held by the Arabs: “The Jews of the Orient are at home. This land is their only fatherland.. They don’t know any other.”

Professor Philip Hitti, Arab historian in 1946: “There is no such thing as Palestine in history, absolutely not.”

Representative of Saudi Arabia at the United Nations in 1956: “It is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but Southern Syria.”

Abd Al-Ghani admitted on official PA TV on November 1, 2017: ” Before the Balfour Promise, when the Ottoman rule [1517-1917] ended, Palestine’s political borders as we know them today did not exist, and there was nothing called a Palestinian people with a political identity as we know today.” [MIDA – Arab historian Admits there is NO Palestinian People – Judith Bergman 09/11/2017]

Muhammad Y. Muslih, Palestinian historian: During the entire 400 year period of Ottoman rule [1517-1919], before the British set up the 30-year-long Palestine Mandate, “There was no political unit known as Palestine.” [Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs: Who are the Palestinians – Pinhas Inbari, August 7, 2017]

Rashid Kalidi, historian, in his 1997 book, “Palestinian Identity: The Construction of Modern National Consciousness”, notes that, “Palestinian identity has never been an exclusive one with Arabism—–it is in fact relatively modern.” [Michelle Cohen, Israel Frontline, November 30, 2010″ When the Arabs Became the ‘Palestinians’- The Invention of a People.

In 1976, the late Syrian President Hafez Assad addressing the PLO, explained to Arafat :
“You do not represent Palestine as much as we do . Never forget this one point; There is no such thing as a Palestinian people, there is no Palestinian entity , there is only Syria. You are an integral part of the Syrian people, Palestine is an integral part of Syria. Therefore, it is we the Syrian authorities , who are the true representatives of the Palestinian people.”

In 1980, Prime Minister of Jordan, Hamid Sharif declared : “The Palestinians and Jordanians do not belong to different nationalities. They hold the same Jordanian passports , as Arabs and have the same Jordanian culture.”

In 1981, the late King Hussein of Jordan declared: “The truth is that Jordan is Palestine and Palestine is Jordan.”

Anti-Zionist and former Israeli Parliament Member Azmi Bishara, interviewed on Israeli TV, said that “There is no ‘Palestinian People’ and never was.”

Hamas Interior Minister accidentally admitted that there is no such thing as a “Palestinian People”, indicating that half are Egyptian and half are Saudis.”

Farid Kassab, famous Syrian author in 1906, expressed the view uniformly held by the Arabs: “The Jews
of the Orient are at home. This land is their only fatherland. They don’t know any other.” [Palestine: The Original Sin – Meir Abelson, Nativ 2003].

In an academic sense, “Palestine” does not even qualify as a state. Under the Montevideo Convention [1933], a state “should possess the following qualifications: [1] a defined territory [2] a government [3] capacity to enter into relations with other states and [4] a permanent population.

Beyond confusing the world with the facts on “Palestine” as indicated above, there is yet another strategy which enabled Israel’s enemies to gain traction. This evilly construed concept involved a theoretical separation of the “Palestinians” from the Arabs at large. Joshua Muravchik fully explores this subject in his book, “Making David into Goliath – How the world turned against Israel.”

The two given propaganda ideas gained momentum around 1964 and became an unsurpassed weapon in the hands of the terrorists against Israel. These tools have been extremely helpful in enabling Arafat to agree to the diplomacy bluff over military action. In fact, in recent times, both are in use, the former by the PA and the latter by Hamas.

These actions represent the twisted stories of amongst the most unprecedented acts of fraud in history. The propaganda has undoubtedly became a powerful weapon by which means, Israel’s enemies set about attempts at conquering Israel through “diplomacy” while minimizing suicide attacks and the military.

For Donald Trump’s useful idiots to persist in thinking that a solution to the subject can be secured through the PA is ludicrous. They need to focus on several alternative options that have surfaced in recent times. It is surely time to remind them, the Arabs and the international community that Jews are the true Palestinians

On 05/15/2018, Herb Keinon in a Jerusalem Post Op-Ed, reminded us of Jonathan Pollard current predicament. His piece was appropriately titled at the time, “Jonathan Pollard and a Jerusalem Embassy:Parallels in history.” Now, while the US Embassy in Jerusalem is a reality, once more Pollard has thus far suffered a disappointment. Could this be because his prosecutor,Joseph de Genova has exerted his influence on President Trump?

Trump, on the other hand, not only is well disposed towards Israel, and has initiated a pardon process. Also, his disdain for the FBI should have been helpful in this instance. In the Foreword to the book on Pollard entitled, “The Spy who knew too much”, famed law professor, Alan Dershowitz, has this to say; “—-Jonathan Pollard has been treated unjustly, unequally and illegally. Inaction in the face of this record will be seen by history as complicity in injustice.” Sadly, time has shown this to be so.

With the passage of time too much has been forgotten of Pollard’s travails. While Jonathan Pollard is no longer incarcerated in jail, he is far from being a free man in terms of his,”—–arbitrary and unduly harsh parole conditions that deny his religious freedom “,while residing in Manhattan, New York. The parole conditions commit him to a 5 year term in the US, whereas his desire is to be living in Israel now.

A review of a few of the more horrifying events in the Pollard case appear to be in order. Pollard spent the initial 10.5 months at the Springfield [Missouri] Medical center for Federal Prisoners before being transferred to what he called his new “hell hole”, 6 years in solitary confinement in an underground prison cell in Marion Federal Penitentiary. Apparently, it is known as the toughest maximum security prison in America.

Of the Springfield facility, Pollard graphically recalls it as follows .”The inhuman screams of the patients around me sounded like something straight out of Dante’s Inferno. Can you imagine what it is like to live in a nine foot cell under such appalling conditions? He speaks of lack of sleep and the difficulty of washing, owing to the availability of a single shower for all the inmates of the ward. It had the appearance of a latrine, by the time he was able to use it. As the recall moves on it worsens beyond words.

“And then there were the attempted suicides.” Jonathan Pollard’s sister Carol described it as little more than a psychiatric ward for the criminally insane. David Ward, a University of Minnesota professor said of the prisoners in Marion K’s unit:” They are there for symbolic reasons – to show what the Federal Government can do if it really gets angry.”

During March, 1992 Pollard faced 3 judges in an appeal against his sentence. The Court of Appeals, in a two-to-one decision, rejected the challenge, largely on procedural grounds. Of particular interest, the majority, Judges Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Laurence H. Silberman who are Jewish, placed heavy emphasis on the failure to appeal from the life sentence in a timely manner; whereas Judge Stephen F. Williams, who is not Jewish, in his dissenting opinion, called the case “a fundamental miscarriage of justice” and wrote that he would have ordered that Pollard’s sentence be vacated and the case remanded for re-sentencing.

The dignified Judge Williams, by way of enforcing his judgment, conveyed the following;

“Though I do not wish to be too critical of the government, and though the analogy is inexact on some points, the case does remind me of Macbeth’s curse against the witches, whose promises and their sophisticated interpretations of them – led him to doom:

And be these juggling fiends no more believed.—That palter with us in a double sense; That keep the word of promise to our ear. And break it to our hope. [Macbeth V, vii, 48-51.]

John Loftus was a top US Justice Official in his time. Arutz 7 published his startling,” The Truth About Jonathan Pollard” on May 31, 2003. It is a lengthy essay with many revelations.

The bottom line was one of a series of mistakes and then blaming Pollard for what Aldrich Ames had done. A few examples:
[a] The lack of “blue stripe” clearance was the final proof that Pollard could not possibly have betrayed our Russian agents. Is should certainly have gotten him a new hearing.
[b] “—-but in the long run he [Pollard] may have committed the most unpardonable sin of all. He was right and the bureaucrats were wrong.”
[c] “Pollard stole the ultimate smoking gun that shows exactly what the leaders of our intelligence community knew and when they knew it. The “blue book” Pollard stole flatly establishes that all the dots were connected many years before 9/11—”

President Trump has shown little patience with the FBI and a willingness to be unconventional. Removing all the constraints imposed on Jonathan Pollard and allowing him to move to Israel would avail Pollard of the justice that he has been denied for so long.
