Diplomacy at Israel’s Expense
The news media is eagerly embracing the idea of a “ceasefire” negotiated by brokers like the US, Qatar, and believe it or not Russia. On the one hand the US condemns Russia and keeps on pumping funds into Ukraine, while getting into bed with Russia to stop Israel from completely disseminating Hamas. Am I insane? Perhaps. But not according to World Israel News (February 26, 2024). A page out of the Yom Kippur War playbook, the UN, US and EU are pushing for a ceasefire while bedfellows Qatar and Russia invite a “united” Palestinian delegation to Moscow for talks. By “united” they include Hamas. A short jolt to the memory: China and Russia would not condemn Hamas at the UN after October 7. Another caveat: the US has military assets in Qatar.
Five months into the war, the world has suddenly realized that Israel is not playing. That Israel will protect its citizens at all costs because there is no other alternative. Israel does not look at the situation through rose colored diplomatic glasses because those glasses shattered and turned red very quickly on October 7. Diplomats are so removed from reality that unless you drop them on their heads in a war zone devoid of vest, helmet, or a gun, they remain mentally comatose. They just don’t get it. But Israel does, because Israel has no other choice.
The nefarious web of disingenuous concern for the “Palestinians” runs through the daily narrative that upped the ante on antisemitism all over the world. If a story is repeated long enough it will inadvertently be taken for the truth. That’s how dumbed down we have become. The Biden’s administration push for ceasefire is two-fold: a looming election with Muslims in Michigan threatening a no Democratic vote, and the political “Palestinian” state promise that the administration hopes would turn the Muslim vote around. As the World Israel News (February 26, 2024) so aptly put it: if Israel pushes on and really destroys Hamas, Israel might not remain open to diplomatic paths towards a Palestinian State. Basically said: leave some murdering thugs running around so that the US & EU can have a diplomatic win through an alleged Palestinian State. Diabolical but not surprising.
The adage that Palestinians are not Hamas is as stale and irrelevant as yesterday’s breakfast. According to World Israel News (February 26, 204) if elections were held today in Gaza, Hamas would again be elected. Conclusion: Palestinians want Hamas. The idea that a Palestinian State codetermined by Hamas would somehow erase terrorism against Israel or stop other Islamic jihads against western assets is not only naïve but downright stupid.
The world seems to be led by infantile minds that conveniently forget events of the last decade. The US pulled out of Afghanistan because the Taliban had made promises which would lead to some diplomatic social improvement. How did that work out? Women are treated like crap and girls grow up to be a number in a harem. The idea that if one appeases terrorists, they will stop terrorism is beyond incomprehensible. It is dangerous. Asking a country who is fighting for its existence to stand down to appease those who attacked it is not diplomacy, it is lunacy.
As we listen to the nonsensical kafuffle of irrelevancy by those who have very little to lose, we wonder how the global community can stand by and think that creating a state with links to several terrorist organizations whose charters specifically call for the annihilation of Israel, is a good idea. The US tried the diplomacy route in Iraq and ISIS moved in. The Obama administration had just described ISIS as the “jayvee team” when images of multiple decapitations and public burnings crept in our lives with horror. Then the rhetoric went into full warp as public opinion turned against the flippant and arrogant attitude that allowed thousands to be slaughtered. It took several years to get ISIS under control but not eradicate them. Because complacency and politics was happy at stopping them temporarily. They are still very active in Syria, Africa, Pakistan, and parts unknown in Asia. But worst of all, they are being hosted in Afghanistan by the Taliban. A full circle of irrelevant diplomacy that does not eradicate terrorism but rebrands it and hopes for the best.
I have just finished watching a World War II series on Netflix which brought home the bumbling inadequacies of diplomats against evil. The arrogance of such stupidity brought five long years of war, suffering, and the death of approximately 65 million European and Japanese civilians. From the early 1930’s until the invasion of Poland by the Nazis, Europe waited for the inevitable thinking it would not happen. By the time Nazi tanks ran over fences, homes, and people, it was too late to even think. Evil was literally at the doorstep. The US didn’t want to engage until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, even though the signs of Japanese aggression had been noted and inevitable for several months. The diplomatic acquiescence when death is several thousand miles away is very convenient, it’s when it comes to your doorstep that realization literally kicks in.
Why would the world want to elevate a terrorist group that openly committed atrocities and taken hostages to a government entity? Are we so brain dead as to think that a Hamas Palestinian State would be terror free? The Palestinian Authority could not control Hamas in 2006, how is a joint “Palestinian” government going to control terrorism? A constitution? A parliament? What exactly is the plan for this newly proposed Palestinian Hamas body of leadership who only five months ago killed 1200 Israelis and taken over 200 hostages? Are we going to send them to reform schools? Basic training in reformed terrorists’ camps? Will they take an oath not to kill Jews? Ridiculous? Undoubtedly.
In the meantime, and through this offensive rhetoric against Israel, the UN is still pumping money into Palestinian and Hamas coffers, and UNRWA is still operative and abetting Hamas in Gaza. Arms are still being hidden under hospitals and schools, and rockets are still being launched by Hamas and Hezbollah against Israel.
Maybe the global community should also be thinking of adding Hezbollah to the Palestinian state mix? Why not the Houthis, Taliban, ISIS, why stop at Hamas? Why only provide Hamas with a State? Why not all terrorists? If this sounds ludicrous you are morally and ethically upright. The idea of a state codetermined by terrorists next door to the country they want to obliterate is obscene. But this is where we are now. In a world pretending to be on a moral high ground through appeasement disguised as diplomacy in a dubious attempt at allegedly protecting Gazans while allowing those who are responsible for their misery to get back to power.
I am past being angry. I have elevated my emotions to incredulous disgust. I am disgusted at the UN, the US, the EU, and every moron in between. I am furious that Israel is singled out as the thug on the block while the mafia is taking protection money at every street corner. I am pained that over 100 hostages are still being held by the murderers the rest of the civilized world wants to rebrand as a legitimate government. But most of all, I fear for my adopted circle of family in Israel. The ones I speak with, try to console, and those I wish to assure that the world extends beyond the morons at the UN, US, and EU.
The World Israel News article (February 26, 2024) sums it just right. Israel is fighting to defeat and eradicate terrorism and not negotiate with it. A concept that was universal, alive, and well after 9/11. That same global unity and resolve dissipated into diplomacy, negotiating, and rewarding. What a profound message to terrorists: you kill 1200 and take hostages? No worries, you get a state!
