Everyone knows that US President Trump’s art of the deal means lying, lying and lying. So, when he says that he hopes that the US will not get into a war with Iran, why believe him? Or, given credence to the theory that he’s surrounded by hawks (appointed by him) who could “convince” him? His credibility among supporters and opponents is about zero.
More likely is that Trump’s playing the good cop/bad cop routine. He’s the boss of all these warmongers. He doesn’t fire them. He lets them do the dirty work of calling for military action while he gets to say all the nice words.
He’s the one who’s been raising national expenditure on the military (“space war” and all) – all the time claiming that he hopes that we will never need any of it.
Next time he says “I hope we don’t go to war,” ask him why he doesn’t sack his militant underlings who say the opposite in public. He certainly is not known for any hesitance in firing people.
War could boost his polling numbers — as long as no US soldiers return in coffins. He has the motive, the accomplices and the track record. He has never seen the horrors of war.
His love for ruthless rulers and dictators is well-known. He has his private soft spots but they all have. I consider him armed and dangerous.
His latest threats are, even if they’re just bluff, hazardous to the hilt.
US: Don’t let Trump (mis)lead you into war.
