Dubai flight — miracle or coincidence?

(Thoughts on Sukot)

Fortunate circumstances just happened to come together. The cockpit somehow managed to get opened by the captain, who used his last bit of energy to open it.

The Israeli who jumped in, just happened to be sitting near the front, which allowed him to get to the cockpit quickly. He just happened to successfully put a chokehold on the terrorist and drag him out. And he just happened to watch documentaries about planes crashing, so he knew from the documentaries that he should pull the lever to straighten out the plane from the nose dive that the terrorist put it in. And all of these fortunate factors  just happened to occur within a 30-second window, during which the plane had already lost much of its altitude and was going down extremely fast. Another few seconds might have been too late.

Two off-duty pilots who were sitting in the back were in a state of shock, but an Israeli shouted at them to run and take control of the plane. He thus managed to bring one pilot out of his shock. That pilot was able to take over the plane right away, and the other pilot soon joined him.

Things just happened to come together in a fortunate way. Coincidence right?

Or miracle? Because all these circumstances, all these individual factors, came together so quickly, at just the right time, in order to save the plane.

Netanyahu told Yaniv (who had dragged out the terrorist, and then pulled back the lever to bring the plane up from its dive), לזה אומרים נס משמים (this is called, a miracle from heaven).

It reminds us of the beepers, which Hezbollah accepted, and which were detonated just before their hidden explosives were discovered.

It reminds us of many miracles that we’ve seen, in which Israel decapitated their enemies’ leadership, and defeated threats on seven fronts.

It reminds us of how the US joined Israel to attack Iran, and how the US is now blockading Iran.

It reminds us, that in this world in which the Almighty chooses to hide His presence, when we open our eyes, we see the Master of the world orchestrating everything.

It reminds us, that G-d’s promise to redeem us again, just as He did the first time from Egypt, will happen.

And as we see the wonders and miracles, it inspires confidence and optimism, that the final Redemption with Moshiach will happen very soon.

May we see it now.
