EU’s Kaja Kallas Joins Antisemitism Bandwagon with Apartheid Comment
The Euractiv exclusive article, titled “Exclusive: Kallas Israel Apartheid Remarks Deepen EU Foreign Policy Crisis,“ speaks about her recent statements, which are pure errors.
Apparently, after visiting South Africa’s Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg, she compared Israel’s treatment of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank to the racist apartheid policies of South Africa, which ended in the early 1990s.
First and foremost, this is so beyond ignorant for a foreign policy chief to make a statement like this, which is based in 100% inaccuracies and antisemitic catchphrases. It does not resemble any facts on the ground in Israel and Gaza. So why would the European Union’s top foreign policy diplomat, who is essentially their Secretary of State, make a statement like this?
She probably thought she was doing the right thing by jumping on the bandwagon of antisemitism. Because the 1980 Venice Declaration, which is what launched the EU two-state policy—which my book, EU Two-State Policy: Monument to a Bygone Era, discusses in its entirety—is itself written in antisemitic language. So it’s not hard for her to get from the policy to this comment, thinking she would be playing to a receptive audience. Moreover, these antisemitic catchphrases are everywhere in the media she most likely absorbs.
And like her predecessor Josep Borrell, the Iranian apparatus himself, who needed to let the world know that Israel was below standard and needed to be given permission to defend itself, she too has stated, following in his footsteps, repeating his same demeaning statement toward the sovereign nation of Israel.
Moreover she criticized Israeli settlements on the West Bank as undermining the possibility of a two-state solution. That’s right, a two-state solution. This policy is half a century old, in Israel is passé because Israel is modern and doesn’t base its future on half-century-old ideas. The problem is the EU lacks an intelligence body; if it’s going to have a foreign policy department and a diplomatic department, it needs an intelligence tier.
Kallas is not the only misinformed politician; they are rampant as they listen to mainstream news that adopts narratives and disinformation seeded by Iran into various networks.
The good news is she received flack from some of the EU nations for this comment. She was obviously too quick to jump on the antisemitism bandwagon with her apartheid comment. According to the article, she made another comment about American diplomats having left Kyiv when they hadn’t left. Regarding her apartheid declaration, while at least a couple of countries within the European Union have the facts straight to know that this was a gross error, they still advocate for the European Union’s two-state policy that dates back to 1980. This policy was motivated by a need for oil and at the time threw Israel under the bus for the sake of their economies, and it inherently reads out of an antisemitic playbook.
