Filming movies In Israel is great for brand Israel
Ynetnews.com reported this week – surprisingly to very little attention in other media outlets – that “Israel’s Tourism, Finance and Economy ministries, together with the Jerusalem Municipality” approved a grant to “encourage the shooting of mega-budget movie productions and an international TV series by the leading NBC network in Jerusalem.”
From the standpoint of Israel Public Relations it is a great idea, and will help booster tourism and public perception about Israel. Wonderful initiative which will do very well.
With the diversity of Israel, so many different types of movies can be filmed there – from those which require desert to those which require uber-modern – ancient castles to farms. And unlike much of the rest of the Middle East, it is safe and welcoming for foreigners. As Tourism Minister Dr. Uzi Landau said, “Israel offers the ideal set for filming international productions. The country offers every type of set backdrop that a director could wish for.”
A new series by Gideon Raff, who is behind Homeland (as well as the amazing Israeli show Hatufim) is the 1st show that will benefit from the grant.
Ze’ev Jabotinsky, the founder of Revisionist Zionism spoke often about the need to promote the good things our people do. As he said, “Who were the first to teach us to always interfere in matters that are not ours, to judge people and nations, even though we were never chosen for the position of judge? The work of the publicist is a legacy from the Prophets of Israel…Our passion is to speak, to proclaim—“Shouting” is what the same audience calls it, ‘we have no need for words, give us actions.’ One thing that audience forgets is that speech is also an action – Perhaps the most authentic of all other actions. Cities have been destroyed, and more will fall, but what was shouted in the wilderness thousands of years ago is alive and still relevant. The world was created by the Word. The world will be mended by the Article.”
Today his quote can read “The world will be mended by the movie.” Read more about Israel & Hollywood here now.
