Flower Essences – Gentle Remedies for Healing from Rape and Sexual Assault
BS”D
Our Sages taught: “Not a single blade of grass grows here on Earth without a heavenly force Above telling it, Grow! For every sprout and leaf says something meaningful, every stone whispers some hidden message in the silence, every creation sings its song of praise for the Creator.”
Like the notes of a Chassidishe niggun whose melody reaches deep into the Soul, so too does a flower’s essence, l’havdil, reach deep into the psyche bringing Nature’s songs to relieve suffering and restore inner peace.
Known in Israel as Pirchei Bach, these gentle remedies from the field were discovered by Dr. Edward Bach, a prominent English physician and homeopath practicing medicine in the 1920’s and early 30’s. Highly intuitive and an erudite botanist and herbalist, Dr. Bach came to observe “that blossoming flowers hold the spiritual culmination or “soul” of the plant and have an affinity or resonance for the emotional/spiritual body in a person. (Carla Savetsky, z”l)
A plant’s color, shape and surface alongside its gestures of where it thrives and the way it reacts and recovers when sudden or evolving changes occur in its environment, offer up the insight that “just as every plant works out its experience, a flower’s essence carries a message that echoes through our body and spirit showing us how to respond to our own similar experiences.” (Lise Wolf)
Transporting the feeling we get when we’re walking through a beautiful garden or peaceful forest, flower essences put us at ease to be able to draw in the stillness and serenity we need to sort things out and come away feeling settled, renewed, and reconnected with our Neshama. (Merri Waters)
Flower essences are gentle, safe, non-toxic, non-allergenic and fragrance-free. Used in tandem with other treatments and therapies, flower essences often advance and enhance their efficacy. They can be easily taken either topically at the pulse points, sublingually, in water or via misting.
For our precious Jewish sisters and brothers who survived the deliberate, unimaginable savagery perpetrated by Hamas and their wicked allies on October 7th, this article offers a selection of flower essences to those who were victims of rape and sexual assault on that day and/or whilst in captivity.
For them and others who witnessed the events on that day or who were first responders or who worked identifying victims in the Casualty Unit at Shura Base, flower essence can bring a measure of inner peace from the tribulations they’ve been through.
Here is a beautiful chart of some of these flower essences: https://www.floweressencearts.com/gentlehealingremedies
The entire selection can be found in Gifts from the Garden, A Handbook of Flower Essence Remedies from Dr. Bach and Around the World that I wrote in the months following October 7th. The full handbook can be read on my website: Flower Essence Arts: www.floweressencearts.com
May we be blessed with Peace Upon the Land and Peace within our Mind, Body, Heart and Soul.
