Last weekend, thousands of anti-Israel demonstrators flooded the streets of many of the Western World’s major cities, Los Angeles, London, and Paris, to name just a few. Some chanting for peace, most chanting for the complete destruction of Israel.
Perhaps you were among them.
These demonstrators see themselves as freedom fighters, defenders of democracy, social justice warriors.
But I don’t blame them.
These are people who want to do the right thing. They want to stand up for the underdog and what they see as general human morality.
I blame the media.
I blame the media for an onslaught of half-truths, blatant lies, and outright propaganda. For deliberating and strategically coloring public opinion red, white and green.
I blame the media for forcing an anti-Israel and, yes, anti-Semitic narrative on the world.
Most human beings get 100% of their information from the mass media…and the social media that exponentially amplifies its voice. Intensely anti-Israel news outlets such as the New York Times, BBC, NPR, and CNN, dominate the landscape. They label their work as “unbiased reporting,” while serving up a vast buffet of anti-Israel rhetoric that viewers consume like pigs at a trough.
And don’t even get me started on Al Jazeera. If you are going to them for information on Israel, I do actually blame you.
The hashtag #IsraelUnderAttack is trending on social media. And the sad truth is that Israel is not only under attack from Hamas militants, but by the world populous. A grossly misinformed and largely uninformed public swept up by a growing tide of anti-Semitism that has been frighteningly and insidiously sweeping the globe like wildfire.
I assume that most good people of the world do not actually support terrorism. But they do, perhaps inadvertently, support terrorists.
Here’s the problem: the truth about Israel lies far beyond the headlines. And how many people are going to do independent research to find out the truth? When you have every single story saying the same thing — Israel is the aggressor and the Palestinians are hapless victims — of course, you will believe it.
I don’t expect the average human being to go out and do the kind of historical research necessary to get past the damning headlines.
Let’s be honest here. I have about a million issues that I only know the superficial facts about — such as anything that isn’t about Israel. I don’t go out and research each story that I see or hear to verify its veracity. I don’t have the bandwidth. No one does.
When all you “know” about the Middle East conflict is that Israel is a murderous colonialist apartheid state that seeks to ethnically cleanse itself of its Muslim minority, of course you will take to the streets.
Here’s my advice to you: Don’t take up arms, if you don’t understand the fight.
What people fundamentally do not understand is that Israel is not fighting “the Palestinians.” Israel is defending itself from Hamas, a designated terror organization that was created specifically to wipe Israel off the map.
When you march against Israel, you are marching for Hamas.
You are marching for terror.
Quick primer on Hamas. Let’s go over a few of the main points of their charter.
(Preamble) “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.”
(Article 7) “The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: ‘O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.”
(Article 33) “Ranks will close, fighters joining other fighters, and masses everywhere in the Islamic world will come forward in response to the call of duty, loudly proclaiming: ‘Hail to Jihad!’. This cry will reach the heavens and will go on being resounded until liberation is achieved, the invaders vanquished and Allah’s victory comes about.”
You may want to read 33 again. Because if you are marching with the Jihadis, you are a pawn of their massive propaganda machine and are working to fulfill their “destiny.” Congratulations.
In stark contrast, you may want to read the Declaration of the Establishment of Israel. You can read it a hundred million times, scour it for hidden meanings, and all you will find is basically this (italics added for emphasis):
“THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.”
While Palestinians literally dance in the streets when Israelis are killed, while they literally get life-long stipends from the government for murdering Jews, while they literally go all over social media bragging about their violence, the “social justice warriors” run to support them.
Meanwhile, Congressional Jihadista darlings, led by Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, spout venomous lies on the floor of the US House of Representatives and the donations flood in. The President himself is afraid to speak out loud about his unwavering support of Israel and her right to defend herself.
When did the United States take such a strong wrong turn into the abyss?
When did terrorism become justice?
When did lies become truth?
You think that Israel is responsible for this conflict? The media would love you to believe that. Truth is, Hamas fired over 500 missiles into Israel and sponsored a month of violence and riots before Israel retaliated. Israel never starts these wars. But she sure-as-heck as every right — and responsibility — to defend herself.
You think that Israel is an apartheid state? The media would love you to believe that. Truth is, Israel is the only state in the entire Middle East that has equal rights for all. There is a 20% Arab minority, they are represented in all branches of the Israeli government, and all have more freedoms than they would in any other country in the Middle East. Oh…and those other countries allow either zero Jewish people in them, or a handful of Jewish dhimmis, second-class citizens who are discriminated against by law.
You think that Israel is ethnically cleansing its population? The media would love you to believe that. Truth is, the Arab populations in both Israel and the Palestinian Territories have grown year-over-year. That would be the most ineffective ethnic cleansing in the history of the world…if it were true.
And you think that Israel is an imperialistic, colonial power? The media would love you to believe that. So, here’s a test. Find Israel on the map of the Arab world. Hint: she’s in red.
Israel has been widely condemned as racist and illegitimate for establishing itself as a Jewish State. This tiny piece of land with approximately six-and-a-half million Jews (there are about 15 million Jews on earth today). To put that in perspective, there are 57 Muslim States and approximately two billion Muslims on earth. There are 15 Christian States and about two-and-a-half billion Christians on earth. You have a problem with Israel being the world’s only Jewish State? Please, go tell England that they have no right to exist and get back to me on that.
And for those of you who love numbers, you will certainly point to the facts and figures of how many Gazans are killed in the conflict vs. how many Israelis. Numbers don’t lie…or do they?
While Israel has made a few hundred surgical and purely tactical attacks on known Hamas military positions, Hamas has shot over 3000 rockets into Israel, indiscriminately firing as far and wide as they can, in an effort to cause as much death and destruction as possible. Hamas largely fails, but it is not for a lack of trying.
While Israel actually warns Gazan civilians exactly where they will be operating, Hamas throws its women and children in front of the Israeli military for use as human shields and even stores their armaments in mosques, hospitals and schools in order to draw in Israeli attacks. Why? Israeli attacks = public sympathy for Gaza. The math is simple.
Read the Hamas playbook.
If the Palestinians need to be freed from anyone, they need to be freed from Hamas, an oppressive and abusive regime that thrives on humanitarian crisis and propagates its own people’s demise.
It’s time for peace-loving, justice-defending freedom fighters to change their tune from “Free Palestine” to “Free Palestinians from Hamas.” And then to “I support Israel.”
