From Tunnels to Tablets: Hamas Propaganda Has Brainwashed You Completely
Nazi Germanys’ Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels masterminded campaigns established the core ideologies that led to the ruthless slaughter of six million mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, sisters, and brothers. These acts were executed in ways so unimaginably cruel and twisted, with a level of inhumanity so profound, they defy the limits of human imagination. They would make even the devil himself shudder in horror.
Goebbels successfully isolated the Third Reich by controlling all media and information an ordinary German could possibly consume — specifically through film, radio, theater, the press, schools, and universities. Not surprisingly, the most effective propaganda initiative in history brainwashed ordinary German socialists to partake in the most disturbing acts of hatred, violence, and evil ever documented.
Arguably, the genocide of six million Jews throughout Europe may have never happened had Goebbels not existed to sequentially manipulate Germans that their antisemitic beliefs are for the greater good of Germany, and the entire world, through deceit and disinformation.
Thankfully, the world has changed as many sources of information make the ways of Nazi Germany obsolete. The Internet allows access to first-hand accounts and fact-based information in seconds. The dawn of an era where boundless, fact-based information is at our fingertips is not just a fleeting moment but a transformative shift that is here to stay.
Of course, a significant number of media outlets are both a blessing and a curse, with accurate and inaccurate information being inevitable.
Despite the abundance of factual information, the tactics of propaganda reminiscent of Nazi Germany are being perfectly deployed by organizations such as Hamas; manipulating narratives to foster hatred and misinformation in a new era.
And educated people around the world are actually falling for it.
Of course, this is because propaganda produced by Hamas terrorists hiding in tunnels is much more trustworthy than biblical sources, archeological evidence, historical records, and genetic studies.
Hamas disguises itself as “freedom fighters that will one day liberate Palestine.” Through aggressive propaganda, they have painted a picture of an oppressed nation trapped in an “open-air prison” by “Jewish colonizers” that also happen to be “genociding them.”
Specifically, a common distortion of Jews and Zionists include the infamous label of being “settlers,” and “occupiers” of land unrightfully belonging to them. Other common trendy myths include the baseless accusation of promoting “apartheid” and engaging in “ethnic cleansing.”
Hamas effectively fuels anti-Israel sentiment and garner international sympathy. Yet this compelling narrative cunningly conceals not only the group’s terror tactics but also the oppression of their own people, and their rejection of peaceful coexistence with Israel.
As masterminds of propaganda, they exploit innocent Palestinians as human shields, forcing them to stay put despite Israel’s evacuation warnings. This war crime is intentional to propagandize the highest number of civilian casualties possible and create international resentment towards Israel.
If Hamas actually cared about Palestinians, they would invest their resources into building bomb shelters to protect civilians, instead of focusing on terror tunnels to protect combat terrorists.
Obviously that isn’t part of their twisted agenda.
Hamas’ strength is appealing to the misinformed that Israel intentionally attacks innocent noncombatants, when in reality Israel has taken measures to protect these lives.
Specifically, a few tactics the IDF have implemented to protect innocent Palestinian lives include calling and texting ahead of an air strike as well as roof-knocking. Not surprisingly, the media neglects to inform that the IDF “air-dropped flyers to give civilians instructions on when and how to evacuate, including with safe corridors.”
Thirdly, Israel demonstrates an obligation to protect innocent Palestinians by their use of real phone calls to civilians in combat areas. The IDF has taken further measures to protect civilians by the “distribution of military maps and urban warfare graphics to assist civilians in leaving combat areas.”
No military in history has ever taken such protective measures for the well-being of opposing noncombatants in war.
Further, the IDF targeting a Hamas-operated building is not attacking a hospital, but a terror outpost, regardless of the label Hamas assigns. Hamas exercises war crimes like converting dense civilian areas, such as hospitals, schools, and mosques to tunnel entrances, command centers, storage weapon centers, and rocket launching sites. After IDF missions targeting Hamas operatives, Hamas unleashes anti-Israel propaganda, falsely branding Israelis as cold-blooded brutes bent on apartheid.
Imperative, challenging missions are twisted and turned, misleading global audiences into believing that Israel specializes in “baby killing,” “religious apartheid,” and intentionally harming Palestinians. If Hamas upheld moral values, they would operate from legitimate command centers and bases instead of using civilian areas for propaganda purposes.
Another successful Hamas propaganda tactic includes blaming all of Gaza’s socioeconomic and humanitarian problems on Israel. Identical to Nazi Germany attributing all of Germany’s problems to the Jewish people, Hamas shifts the blame away from its own governance and onto Israel to gain international sympathy and ignite anti-Zionism.
Not surprisingly, Hamas is responsible for the harsh living conditions in Gaza. Specifically the intermittent lack of water. The Times of India reports that Hamas interferes with Gazan water supply by repurposing water pipes into missiles and firing them towards Israeli civilians.
This violation of international humanitarian law (and effective propaganda) sparks greater Palestinian resentment towards Israel, since Gazans are told that “the Jews” are responsible for their deficient living conditions and diminishing infrastructure, water supply, and socioeconomic decline.
Here is Hamas’ process of mining water pipes to a fully functioning terror rocket.
Likewise, Hamas continues its propaganda war by stealing Israeli humanitarian aid – specifically food, water, shelter supplies, and medical equipment designated for civilians. Subsequently, instead of receiving aid, civilians are subject to brutal beatings.
By flipping aid on the black market and exploiting Gazans, Hamas recognizes another propaganda opportunity: the curation of an image that Israel is responsible for this humanitarian crisis. Injured and starving Palestinian children in dire need of food, water, and medical supplies become stories and images of “Israeli apartheid.”
Another intention includes profiting off the vulnerability of Gazans and continuing to blame devastating conditions on Israel, of course. Because exploiting the agony of your own children is the epitome of “liberation,” isn’t it?
Friends of Hamas may argue that the reason for this socioeconomic decline is Israel’s land and sea blockade of the Gaza strip (also enforced by Egypt). However, Israel’s options are limited with Hamas’ vows for “Islamic-inspired jihad—the killing of Jews and the liberation of ‘all of Palestine’ using violent means.”
Here is the Doctrine of Hamas.
Unfortunately, a majority of Americans do not see the twists and turns in Hamas’ far from reality storytelling. The Anti-Defamation League reports that 43.5% of Americans believe Israel intends to cause as much suffering to Palestinians as possible. The same study found an alarming statistic that 42% of Americans have friends/family that find it socially justifiable to dislike Jews or support Hamas.
This reveals the chilling effectiveness of Hamas’ propaganda war and its disturbing success.
However, contrary to the distortions propagated by Hamas, Israel’s commitment to safeguarding innocent lives through unprecedented humanitarian measures exemplifies its dedication to justice and peace, not suffering and apartheid. Undoubtedly, overwhelming evidence indicates that the suffering of children and families on both sides is directly attributed to Hamas’ war crimes and barbarity.
Yet, the question facing thinkers and learners alike is not how to force the genie back in the bottle and return to the days of an isolated and uninformed public. Instead, it simply is this: How will we approach the new reality of harnessing this vast ocean of knowledge to foster a more enlightened and engaged global society, one that resists the spread of antisemitic propaganda with ease and conviction?
Here’s a start: Please, don’t be brainwashed by tunnel propaganda.
