George Orwell is alive in Lithuania

Upon receiving the complaint from the US Congress regarding Holocaust revisionism, Lithuania had no choice but to replace leadership of the government agency. The agency called The Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania (LGGRTC) or, The Genocide Center is responsible for re-writing Lithuanian official history.

A trojan horse named Jakubauskas was installed in order to take the fall for any future problems. Jakubauskas is an ethnic Tartar who keeps changing his “ethnic designation“ in order to accommodate a rampantly racist country that seeks ethnic purity. In order to facilitate continued Holocaust revisionism, Vidmantas Valiusaitis, the government’s real candidate was installed as his “senior advisor”. Valiusaitis is a well-know antisemite who has made his livelihood out of Holocaust revisionism.

No official announcement of Valiusaitis’s appointment was made, just an entry, far down on the government website, in order to comply with regulations. This was meant to keep it away from public sight.

The Lithuanian Jewish Community responded: “We would like to point out that in several recent publications Vidmantas Valiusaitis intentionally distorted the facts and publicized these falsehoods concerning the anti-Semitic activities of the Lithuanian Activist Front and the Lithuanian Provisional Government of 1941. Moreover, Vidmantas Valiusaitis basically denied the conclusions arrived at by the International Commission for Assessing the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Regimes in Lithuania regarding the clearly anti-Semitic views and actions of these organizations and their leadership directed against the Jews of Lithuania.”

Despite rampant intimidation of Lithuanian citizens who speak out against Holocaust revisionism, multiple credible Lithuanian historians objected to Valiusaitis’s appointment. They note that a supposed State Research Center cannot be considered legitimate if ideologues are appointed to rewrite history.

Valiusaitis was the candidate of Arūnas Gumuliauskas, the head of Lithuania’s Parliamentary State Historical Commission. Gumuliauskas has made remarkable public statements about Lithuania’s Holocaust history, including that Lithuania bears no responsibility for the 220,000 murdered Jews on Lithuanian territory, where the murders were carried out mostly at the instigation of Lithuanians and by Lithuanians.

On September 4, 2020, the US State Department Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues made a public statement: “Lithuania’s history is full of proud moments that have led to the flourishing democratic nation it is today. Yet no country’s history is without dark moments; these events must be studied, analyzed, and presented without bias. It is imperative for institutions such as the Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania to be apolitical and willing to examine history without preconceived notions. Overlooking or downplaying events of the Holocaust creates divisions and tarnishes Lithuania’s reputation. The objective analysis of history honors Lithuania’s democracy.”

After statements by Congressman Brad Sherman of the US Congressional Foreign Affairs Committee, and Ambassador Daniels of the US State Department, both Valiusaitis and Gumuliauskas blamed “anti-Lithuanian propaganda” for the exposure. Clearly, they believe that the US Congress and State Department have been co-opted by Lithuania’s foreign enemies. They have invented a grand claim of conspiracy to cover up their conduct.

Rabbi Andrew Baker, the Director of International Jewish Affairs for AJC, noted the “difficulties” with the conduct of Lithuania’s government agency. In response, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Strategic Communications unit Tweeted, calling it “hostile propaganda”.

After Valiusaitis was appointed, Rabbi Baker stated that the hypocrisy by the Lithuanian Government must end.

The Director of the Genocide and Research Center, Dr. Arunas Bubnys has also exposed himself as a nationalist ideologue by announcing himself as a far-right candidate for Lithuania’s Parliament.

Lithuania has been comprehensively exposed as a Holocaust distorting state. In addition to the US State Department and the US Congress, three US cities have issued resolutions of condemnation. Prior, the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance had voiced its concern; this was their second such statement in two years.

The World Jewish Congress has identified Lithuanian Holocaust revisionism, the Lithuanian Presidential Commission has identified it, AJC has previously stated the same, the Lithuanian Jewish Community, the European Jewish Community, and many of the world’s most prominent news outlets.

The false veneer of the Lithuanian government has been removed, exposing Lithuania’s true agenda. The ludicrous claims that all of these statements are “hostile propaganda” makes an absurdity of the Lithuanian government in the international arena.

On September 4, 2020, the United States sent 500 troops to Lithuania to defend them. The Lithuanian military publishes a magazine called Karys. Prior issues have shown Lithuanian Holocaust perpetrators as their military national heroes. Below is one from 2015 featuring Jonas Noreika, the murderer of 14,500 Jews, and 2020 magazine cover showing Kazys Skirpa, the man who proposed the “elimination” of Jews to Hitler. Fine examples indeed of Lithuanian national values.

In thirty years of independence, Lithuania did not punish a single murderer of a Jew. Murderers who were deported back to Lithuania by the American government were pampered and unpunished. Lithuania has converted multiple Holocaust perpetrators into its national heroes, and to date, the country has not been held to account for any of their Holocaust denial, revisionism and distortions. This has facilitated their belief that they can rewrite their national history without consequence. And they do.

US troops are now protecting a nation that is fully and openly engaged in Holocaust revisionism. It is beneath the dignity of the United States to be protecting such a far right, radicalized, nationalist ideology. Furthermore, it is an embarrassment for the European Union and for NATO, that Lithuania is allowed to be a member of such prestigious organizations.

Holocaust revisionism IS antisemitism. It is an assault on the victims of the Holocaust and an assault on the good citizens of Lithuania who should be free of the taint with which they are identified for the conduct of their leaders. The “hostile propaganda” being issued is the Holocaust revisionism relentlessly spewed by the Lithuanian government. George Orwell has been resurrected and is practicing his craft in the breakaway, post Soviet state of Lithuania.
