Germany Russia Britain US Trump — and Israel — and Daniel’s vision – Part 2
This is a continuation of the previous post discussing chapter seven of the book of Daniel, with interspersed commentary.
15 My spirit – I Daniel – became frightened within my body, and my mind’s vision frightened me.
16 I approached one of those (angels) standing there, and I asked him for the truth regarding all this; and he told me, explaining it to me.
17 “These four great beasts refer to four kingdoms that will rise on earth.
18 “And those who are holy and lofty will inherit the kingship forever.”
19 I wanted to know the truth about the fourth beast, which was different from the others, very frightening, iron teeth and copper claws; it ate, crushed, and trampled the rest with its feet.
20 And ten horns on its head, and another (horn) that emerged, and three (horns) fell before it, and the horn had eyes and spoke grandiosely, and its appearance was greater than its compatriots.
21 And I saw that this horn fought against the holy ones and was subduing them.
In his first term, Trump pressured Netanyahu to agree to give land for a Palestinian state. Eventually the deal was nullified.
22 Until the Ancient of Days came, and judgement was given in favour of those who were holy and lofty, and at a certain time the holy lofty ones inherited dominion.
23 This is what he (the angel) said: “The fourth beast — a fourth kingdom will be on earth, it will be different from all other kingdoms, and it will eat the entire land, grind it and crush it.
24 “And the ten horns — ten kings will rise, and another one will rise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones, and he will degrade three kings.”
See the previous post regarding the ten horns.
25 “And he will speak bombastically, and he will tire out the holy lofty ones, and he will want to change the times and the law, and they (the holy ones) will be given into his hands until a time, two times, and half a time.”
Trump’s first term consisted of a period of time when he was president-elect; another period of time when he was president; and a third period of time from the election until Biden’s inauguration. During the third period, exactly halfway through, the Supreme Court ruled that Trump had lost the election.
26 “And judgement will be given, and the rulership will be taken away, destroyed, and lost to the end.
According to the classic commentary Rashi, this refers to the rulership of the fourth beast.
(See in the previous post, commentary on verse 11; re the invasion of the Capitol, and possibly the refinement of the US.)
27 “And the kingdom, rulership, and grandeur of rulership under all heaven will be given to the nations of those who are holy and lofty, their dominion will be a dominion forever, and all rulers will serve and obey them.”
28 This is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts frightened me tremendously, my appearance changed, and I guarded it in my heart.
Daniel’s vision gives us much reason for optimism nowadays. Because it’s quite possible that Daniel is describing, in remarkably accurate detail, our era, from World War Two until the present day.
Daniel predicted a time when the holy lofty ones will rule. Indeed these days, Israel has emerged as a superpower, led by G-d fearing leaders who are determined to eradicate Hamas. Israel is standing up strong, defending itself and defying world pressure. And by Divine providence, Trump is now strongly advocating for the Jewish people.
The miraculous fall of Hezbollah, Syria and Iran reinforces our trust in the Almighty.
The complete Redemption with Moshiach is imminent.
May it happen very soon.
