Go inward for the dopamine hit
I got inspired by three completely different occurrences today, and each one spoke to my soul. Are you listening when your soul, emotions and understanding are ignited?
1. I love this show, Diary of a CEO, in which the host deeply interviews the process and journey of each fascinating person, as well as dissecting and describing the knowledge and lessons into something easily digestible. This episode is with Scooter Braun, who only got on my radar the first time, when the Taylor Swift catalogue fiasco was on all social media. After hearing the details, I am blown away by his whole story. The second time, I was so impressed when I saw his response to October 7, he created the NOVA EXHIBIT, to bring awareness to the masses of exactly what happened in Israel on that day when Hamas massacred, raped and kidnapped innocent families, elderly and babies.
There were so many phrases and quotes by Scooter Braun that blew my mind, like the title of the blog today, to stop looking outside of yourself for excitement, meaning, and a high. “Go inward for the dopamine hit.” There were two more that were so deep and true, happy to discuss, reach out and tell me about your thoughts, I would love to hear.
“Human beings are not meant to be worshipped they are meant to serve.”
“Surrender, participate, and just enjoy the ride.”
2. In Los Angeles, there is a wonderful organization, Yad Menachem, that helps parents receive the funds they need in order to send their kids to a full-time Jewish school instead of public school. This was very important to my husband and me, and with their help, all three of my kids were able to get a Jewish education and make amazing friends during their Bar and Bat Mitzvah years. They offer help for kids of all ages, and I am partnering with Yad Menachem to spread the word and raise awareness and funding for probably the most important cause of our times. Educating our children to know their roots, history and a love for Jewish culture and tradition. 3. Every Monday at 10am at Yeshurun in Yerushalaim are the most amazing series of classes. I peeked in last week, and had to run to an appointment, but it changed the course of the rest of my day. Today I was able to stay for three classes, and each one had a clear message that I needed to hear. It gave me strength and clarity to approach this week open, direct and knowing that God is always our partner. There is always a greater plan, and in hindsight we see how it is all connected. In modern times the operations to eliminate Hezbollah and destroy the nuclear capabilities in Iran, were precise and Thank God a huge success. Israel literally cleared the path for the USA to have a clear shot, especially with Syria opening up the air space. Time literally stood still as Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey helped to thwart the counter attack. That is what my learning was about today, like nature paused when God split the sea for the Jews to cross when they were leaving Egypt and slavery. There is another time in history where this happened again with Joshua, when he was fighting multiple armies for the land of Israel, he asked the sun to shine longer and stop spinning, so he could accomplish his mission in daylight. I learned today that the date was Gimmel Tammuz, an already auspicious day in the Jewish calendar, now shared by the Yahrzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Hindy was explaining that all the systems and creations of nature are automatically programmed to operate to illuminate our world. Every time we look at a sunrise or sunset, we praise God for the miracle of knowing it happens like clockwork. She compared it to a song, we all have a song, flowers and animals are musically carrying out their purpose in this world. However, only humans can choose to deeply connect and use our song to proclaim that everything is God. When we are distracted, we are disconnected by fear or ego, more so thinking we have the power or control or something else does. There is only Hashem. Hashem is in charge. The whole purpose of creation is as Hashem chose us, we keep choosing to make a place for God in this world.
