Because of the missile attacks from Iran, the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, like other hospitals in the country, has been forced to find a solution to be able to continue attending to patients in times of war.

Regrettably, with a long experience of many years, the enemy does not make a difference between civil and military objectives, so hospitals, the centers that provide medical assistance to the population, have had to find solutions to the threats and the danger.

Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, in its modern new Davidson’s Tower from a few years ago, was already designed for this war scenario, and some of its operating rooms were installed on the underground floors.

In the actual conflict, an in-patient department for patients who could not be moved independently in an emergency was added to one of the underground parking lots.

This series of photographs provides a perspective of the home front, an intimate look at the medical reality beneath the surface: the civilian experience in a subterranean wartime environment.

A unique place with unique people in a unique hospital of a unique country
