Hadassah’s Yellow Nail Initiative

In solidarity with Hadassah’s #EndTheSilence campaign and Yellow Nail Initiative to raise awareness about Hamas’ weaponization of rape and mutilation of women during the Hamas-Israel war, I have painted my fingernails and toenails yellow.

Is the day coming
when I can finally remove
that color from my body???

Screaming Yellow Fingernails & Toes,
Yellow Ribbon pinned upon my chest …
adorned by a dog tag around my neck

I wait with anticipation …

Three young women
get into the vehicle …
dressed in clean sport outfits …
They Look Normal!!

My tears tumble
A shimmer of hope

Yellow is not cheery & bright to me,
It’s a color that jars my nerves

Three more are home today
…my hopes are raised

May one day
very soon
my beloved purples …Return
