Hamas and the Gaza Strip. There’s so much more to be said
“Any nation, any society, any country that is created on the basis of a hatred towards the others, will soon run out of people that it can hate or groups it can decimate and it will devour itself.” -Tarek Fatah, UNHRC, Geneva. March 2013.
Yesterday, Tuesday, October 14, 2025. One day later, and Hamas, the deluded, splenetic terrorist psychopaths of the Gaza Strip, lovers of hate, initiators of democide, intolerant of other religions, continue to perpetrate their murderous actions, this time against their very own Muslim brothers. And they seem proud in doing so.
Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
As reported by India Today, “Hamas goes on killing spree in Gaza after releasing Israeli hostages. Hamas has launched a violent crackdown on rival factions in Gaza, executing eight people by firing squad and clashing with the powerful Doghmush clan, as it seeks to reassert control in the Palestinian territory amid a US-brokered ceasefire. After releasing Israeli hostages, it is turning the gun on its own people.” The report adds: “In a move to consolidate power and rule over the ruins, the Palestinian terrorist group has started executing members of rival militia.”
The Telegraph (UK) reported it this way: “Hamas has carried out a mass execution in the streets of Gaza as part of a series of bloody reprisals following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from key urban areas…”
But, wait a minute, let’s look at how the topic is reported, translated into English, from Qatar’s Al Jazeera’s Arabic language website:
“A security source in Gaza confirmed that death sentences against those who collaborate with the occupation or are involved in security and criminal offenses will only be carried out after all legal and judicial procedures have been completed and in accordance with established procedures.
“The source explained that all those sentenced underwent rigorous investigations and documented security checks, which were implemented even under wartime conditions, confirming the competent authorities’ commitment to legal standards.”
As Mark Twain said, “Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.”
Dr. Martin Sherman is the founder and executive director of the Israel Institute for Strategic Studies, a member of the research team for the Israel Defense & Security Forum (IDSF) – Habithonistim, and a participant in the Israel Victory Project. He served for seven years in operational capacities in the Israeli Defense establishment and was a ministerial advisor to Yitzhak Shamir’s government.
Some years ago, I wrote about what he had to say about the Gaza Strip, and I now unashamedly repeat below what he had to say during an interview he gave on May 29, 2018, on Israel’s ILTV station:
“The only solution to Gaza is not reconstruction but deconstruction… Because of the nature of the society in Gaza, this will go on and on and in the end, to put it bluntly, there will either be a large Arab population in Gaza or Jews in the Negev. But, there won’t be both over time.”
The interviewer remarked that out of roughly two million Gazans who are living in the Strip, not all of them are in Hamas’ pockets, to which Sherman replied:
“We should stop considering Palestinians as prospective peace partners and relate them as they relate to themselves, as implacable enemies and treat them as such. In the Second World War, not all the Germans were bad people, but when you have a class of collectives you must decide which collective you want to win, yours or theirs. And if you’re willing to sacrifice your individual, your collective rights for their individual rights, you’re going to lose.”
