Hamas’ Fatal Mistake

Throughout history, tyrants have attempted to destroy Israel and the Jewish people. Pharaoh, Nevuchadnezzar, Haman, Titus, Torquemada, Khmelnitsky, Hitler — and now Hamas and Iran — all believed they would be “the one” to finally extinguish Israel’s flame. They all failed. They cannot defeat THE ONE.
Their fatal mistake was — and is — forgetting that Israel is not merely a nation; it is a reflection of THE ONE who is Invincible. God is invisible, and therefore invincible. And the People of Israel, carrying His Covenant and His Values throughout history, are likewise indestructible.
This truth is encoded in the words of Jeremiah 11:16:
“The Lord called your name, ‘A green olive tree, beautiful in fruit and form.’ With the noise of a great tumult He has kindled fire upon it, and its branches are broken.”
The enemies may burn the branches. They may unleash chaos and tumult. But as Radak (Rabbi David Kimhi) explains, the roots remain alive. Israel may be battered, but it is never uprooted. Israel may be crushed, but like the olive, it transforms its suffering into the oil of light.
This is why the Menorah — fueled by pure olive oil — is the eternal symbol of Israel.
An olive, when crushed, releases its hidden essence. Likewise, Israel, pressed by suffering, reveals a deeper radiance: a commitment to illuminate the world with the enduring values that define humanity itself:
Justice: “Justice, justice shall you pursue, that you may live.” (Deuteronomy 16:20)
Compassion: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Leviticus 19:18)
Truth: “The Lord is a God of truth.” (Jeremiah 10:10)
Holiness: “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.” (Leviticus 19:2)
The Sanctity of Life: “Choose life, so that you and your offspring may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Freedom of Conscience: “Proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants.” (Leviticus 25:10)
Hope against Despair: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for peace and not for harm, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
These values, forged by God in the Covenant with Israel, are the pillars of human civilization. They cannot be destroyed by hatred because they are anchored in eternity. Evil regimes rise and fall; the ideals of Torah endure. Ramban teaches that the word Brit–Covenant is the root of the word Beriah–Creation. The Covenant of the Jewish Nation with God, is as indestructible as Creation itself.
Torah psychology teaches that because God is invisible, He embedded His Invisibility into mankind through the soul (נשמה). Though unseen by human eyes, the soul is pure and powerful, reflecting God’s own Divine Presence. As the Talmud (Berachot 10a) teaches, just as God fills the world yet cannot be seen, the soul fills the body with life and meaning, yet remains hidden.
Trauma and oppression may cloud consciousness, but they can never damage the soul. So too with Israel: OCTOBER 7 occurred, rockets fall, enemies rage — but the soul of Israel remains intact, undeterred, and undefeated.
Jews around the world are becoming OCTOBER 8th Jews. Reconnecting with the indestructible oil of Jeremiah. If you want to learn the Torah in a private one to one partnership please write to me. I will help you light your own inner flame of invincibility.
The enemies of Israel make the same fatal error in every generation: they assume that physical destruction will erase a spiritual truth. They believe that by crushing the body, they can destroy the soul. But history proves the opposite: the more they afflict Israel, the more Israel rises — spiritually, morally, and physically.
“But the more they would afflict it, the more it would increase and be strengthened (Exodus 1:12)
The crushing of the olive brings forth its oil. The affliction of Israel releases an even deeper revelation of its mission. As Onkelos explains, affliction leads not merely to survival, but to spiritual empowerment.
Hamas’ fatal mistake is not simply military or political; it is metaphysical. They are waging war against an eternal Reality.
Pharaoh’s empire is mired in poverty.
All that is left of Nevuchadnezzar’s Babylon are the hanging gardens.
Haman’s memory has been erased by the Gragers of Purim.
All that remains of Titus’ Rome is a desolate arch–a tourist attraction for visiting Israelis.

Torquemada’s Spain is suffering its perpetual last gasps through ongoing antisemitism.
Khmelnitsky’s terror ended.
Hitler’s Reich lies in the ruins of reparations.
And Hamas, like them, will be forgotten — a footnote of hatred in the grand saga of Jewish survival and divine destiny.
Because Israel is not just a people; it is a covenant. Because Israel is not just a nation; it is a soul. Because Israel is not just a survivor; it is a light unto the nations.
When enemies try to crush Israel, they are attempting the impossible: to kill the One who cannot die, to extinguish a flame that burns with the fire of God’s own spirit.
And so the Menorah of Israel will continue to shine.
The olive tree will continue to grow. The soul of Israel will continue to light up the darkness, declaring to the world:
“The Invisible ONE lives — and so does His nation.”
