Hamas Must Be Destroyed, No Other Option

Israel’s fight is the free world’s fight. If Hamas survives, every extremist learns the same lesson: terror works. Massacres work. Hiding behind civilians works. The free world cannot afford that lesson.

And yet still, the West hesitates. It hesitates in its capitals, in its parliaments, in its streets. It hesitates with empty words about “balance” and “restraint.” It hesitates with condemnations of Israel that never once mention Hamas by name. It hesitates by demanding ceasefires that Hamas will exploit to rearm, regroup, and plan the next massacre.

It is grotesque theater, and the West plays its assigned role with tragic predictability. Every cycle leaves Israel weaker, Jews less safe, and the free world more vulnerable. This cycle cannot continue, not after October 7. Those crimes were the essence of Hamas. And when the killers stood before cameras to boast of their deeds, they told us the truth: they would do it again.

What state, what democracy, what parent anywhere in the world would accept such an enemy on its border? The free world must recognize what is at stake. If Hamas emerges alive from this war, then every terrorist recruiter will declare victory: terror works, the West has no will, Israel is expendable. But if Hamas is destroyed, dismantled completely, then a different message resounds: terror fails.

The only answer to annihilation is the eradication of Hamas

This is clarity. The West must abandon the fantasy of “managing” Hamas. It must abandon the cowardice of appeasement. Because Hamas does not seek compromise, it seeks annihilation. And the only answer to annihilation is elimination. Elimination is not a choice born of vengeance; it is a necessity born of survival. Every genocidal movement that is allowed to breathe comes back sharper, bloodier, more determined.

Israel fights because the alternative is annihilation. It fights because no parent can look into their child’s eyes and accept a future where Hamas is left alive to strike again. And in fighting, it does what the rest of the free world should be grateful for: it stands at the edge of civilization and says “no further.”

Every day that Hamas survives, extremists in Europe and America take inspiration. They watch how the West reacts, and they learn. They learn that parading hostages is effective. They learn that embedding command posts in hospitals brings sympathy. They learn that massacres can be excused as “resistance.” And they learn that Israel, the one state that stands at the frontier of this battle, is left isolated when it dares to defend itself.

The hesitation of the West is a moral luxury Israel cannot afford. The lesson of history is merciless: genocidal movements cannot be appeased, only destroyed.

Israel cannot afford illusions

Israel has no luxury of illusions. It cannot pretend that Hamas will moderate. It cannot gamble its children’s lives on ceasefires that guarantee the next massacre. It cannot outsource its survival to speeches in Brussels or resolutions in New York.

The free world should not only be thankful, but it must stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel. Israel’s survival is not only its own cause. It is the cause of civilization itself.

Israel fights because it must. And in doing so, it fights for us all.

About the Author
Michael Kuenne works as a journalist on antisemitism, extremism, and rising threats to Jewish life. His reporting continually sheds light on the dangers that come from within radical ideologies and institutional complicity, and where Western democracies have failed in confronting the new rise of Jew-hatred with the due urgency it does call for. With hard-hitting commentary and muckraking reporting, Kuenne exposed how the antisemitic narratives shape policymaking, dictate public discourse, and fuel hate toward Israel. His writings have appeared in a number of international media outlets, including The Times of Israel Blogs. Kuenne has become a voice heard for blunt advocacy in regard to Israel's right to self-defense, critiquing ill-conceived humanitarian policies serving only to empower terror, while demanding a moral clarity which seems beyond most Western leaders. With a deep commitment to historical truth, he has covered the resurgence of Holocaust distortion in political rhetoric, the dangerous normalization of antisemitic conspiracies in mainstream culture, and false equivalencies drawn between Israel's actions and the crimes of its enemies. His reporting dismantles sanitized language that whitens the record of extremism and insists on calling out antisemitism-whether from the far right, the far left, or Islamist movements, without fear or hesitation.
