How Can the American Jew Understand the Israeli Jew and Vice Versa

ONE, GREW UP AS A MINORITY.
ONE, GREW UP AS THE MAJORITY.

ONE, AFRAID TO ROCK THE BOAT.
ONE, AFRAID NOT TO ROCK THE BOAT.

ONE, IN NEED TO BE ACCEPTED.
ONE, IN NEED TO BE MACHO AND MANLY.

ONE, WHO IS FORGETTING HIS ROOTS.
ONE, WHO IS RE-ATTACHING TO HIS ROOTS.

ONE, WORRIED TO BE SEEN AS JEWISH.
ONE, WORRIED NOT TO BE SEEN AS JEWISH.

ONE, FLUENT IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE – ENGLISH.
ONE FLUENT IN HIS HISTORICAL LANGUAGE –
HEBREW.

ONE, WHO WALKS THE LAND OF THE NATIVE AMERICAN.
ONE, WHO WALKS THE LAND OF THE NATIVE JEW.

ONE, WHO PLEDGES ALLIEGENCE TO THE FLAG OF A NEW NATION OF MANY STATES.
ONE, WHO SINGS THE 2000 YEAR OLD DREAM SONG OF OLD/NEW NATION AND ITS UNSWEVERING HOPE TO BE FREE.

ONE, THAT AT 18 GOES OFF TO COLLEGE.
ONE, THAT AT 18 GOES OFF TO DEFEND A NATION STATE SURROUNDED BY NAZI GENOCIDAL ARMIES.

ONE, THAT DREAMS OF WALKING THE PROMISED LAND.
ONE, FULFILLING THE PROMISE OF THE LAND.

I HAVE BEEN BOTH ISRAELI AND AMERICAN, AND AMERICAN AND ISRAELI.

THE GREAT DIVIDE CAN BE BRIDGED.
THE ISRAELI REMINDS THE AMERICAN OF NATIONAL AND PERSONAL FREEDOM.
THE AMERICAN REMINDS THE ISRAELI OF
THE NEED FOR NATIONAL AND PERSONAL FREEDOM.
