How Stupid Can You Get?

Okay. So we know that the British Government supports the International Criminal Court’s proposal calling for the arrest of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. However, the decision to do so is still pending and a warrant for his arrest has yet to be issued.

We also know that Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office has stated that the UK will not intervene in the International Criminal Court’s intention to issue an arrest warrant against him.

It is against that background that Bibi refused to meet with British Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, during his visit to Israel this week. Now that is plain stupid! Seasoned politicians and statesmen don’t shoot from the hip.

Israel unfortunately is not blessed with that many friends in the world that it can afford to offend them. It should be recalled that the United States, Britain, Jordan and France all helped intercept the massive barrage of drones that Iran fired at Israel last April.

15% of the components of each Israeli F-35 fighter jet are made by British companies.

One can understand Bibi’s annoyance at the UK government’s decision not to intervene in the ICC’s intention to issue an arrest warrant against him. However, Israel’s government has numerous channels to express its displeasure without Bibi insulting David Lammy by refusing to meet with him. Indeed, Britain’s understanding and support are in our country’s vital interests, so why be offensive?
