How the Hamas Attack Unfolded

At 6:30 am on Saturday 7 October 2023, rocket sirens were heard across Israel, including in Ramat Gan where I live.

It took me a second to realize what was happening and that there were rocket sirens at 6:30am in the morning but luckily I wake up at 6am every morning.

Once the sirens had stopped, I found out in the news that a barrage of rockets had been fired from Gaza into Israel. I also found out that Hamas terrorists from Gaza had crossed the border into Israel by land, sea and air.

These Palestinian gunmen that had crossed over, were walking and driving around cities in southern Israel shooting random people and taking Israelis hostage from the local towns and Kibbutzim.

This seemed inconceivable. I could not believe what was happening, this seemed like a nightmare. Something that could not happen in real life, especially in Israeli territory.

Yet, the events were actually happening and it was about to get worse.

There was a ‘Nature Party’, a rave in the desert in the south and Hamas terrorists were shooting at people and taking Israelis hostage.

While all of this was happening there was a constant barrage of rockets fired into Israel from Gaza.

As of writing, there have been more than three thousand rockets fired from Gaza into Israeli territory. There are over 2,000 Israelis injured and over 700 Israelis have been killed. There are also over 100 Israelis taken as hostages into Gaza. The numbers are going up all the time and this is not even the final number.

I still cannot believe how and why this happened, all I can say is that this is one of the saddest and darkest moments in Israel’s 75 year history and should never happen again.
