Hunt for the Jews, Australian style

Back in 2012, the eminent Holocaust historian Professor Jan Grabowski wrote his groundbreaking work, “The Hunt for the Jews” ( “Der Judenjagd”), which detailed the role of the Polish collaborators in hunting down Jews in the Dobrowa- Tarnowska area of Galicia. As it happens, my father had family there, and one of his relatives is quoted in the book. The Germans weren’t always adept at identifying the Jews but the Poles were and directed the Germans to Jews in hiding or who were otherwise masquerading as Poles.

Such a thing could not possibly happen here, in sunny Sydney, could it? The reality, as we know now, is that it could and it did.

Here’s a memo to Laura Tingle and others of her ill- informed ilk: the massacre on Sunday at Bondi was nothing other than a Judenjagd, a hunt for the Jews. The shooters weren’t there to kill randoms. They were there, blinded by hate and propelled by murderous intent, to kill Jews. To suggest otherwise is to engage in gaslighting and obfuscation. It is to erase the victimhood of Jews and somehow designate it something else, something other, something lesser. Because the Jews in those people’s eyes are indeed other and lesser and undeserving of being victims.

Already, the narrative has shifted from allowing the Jews to mourn their dead to calls for not allowing Islamophobia to foment. Only the Jews seemingly aren’t allowed to mourn in dignity and peace without hate speech rearing its head and Jew-hating anti-Zionist libels being peddled in the online sewers.

Already, some are saying that Israel’s actions justified the massacres.

Already, some are saying that it was Bibi’s fault.

Already, some are saying that, really, it was all the victims’ fault.

Look what you made him do.

These are classic abuse tactics. Change the narrative. Blame the victim. The perpetrator becomes the victim.

Now the anti-Zionists want to rally because, they assert, attention has been diverted from their cause, their righteous and just cause of calling out the (non-existent) genocide in Gaza. Their cause must, of course, take precedence over dead Jews. Everyone loves dead Jews, of course. Much more than live ones. But the anti-Zionists don’t love any Jews, dead or alive. Oh, they cosplay at condoling us, the Bad Jews, the Zios, but they who have been chanting for two years of “globalize the intifada” and whatever it takes, have had their dream come true. For the intifada well and truly arrived, with a real bang, you might say, right here in Bondi.

No doubt those who want to snatch victimhood from the grieving Jews will say that 10-year-old Matilda had it coming due to the actions of Israel in Gaza. No doubt the other anti-Zionists will claim that no, they don’t hate Jews, but will assert their right to march and rally for Palestine, whilst the burials of the slaughtered continue and the blood and remains of the murdered are being collected by specialist teams from Israel, for we must bury every part of our dead.

They have no shame, nor moral compass, those who would rally now. They change and divert and twist and turn so that Jews and Zionists are denied compassion whilst demanding that right for Palestinians and the anti-Zionists.

Jew hatred comes in many forms and permutations. It started with the Christ-killing libel, then moved into the poisoning of the wells. Thereafter, the traitor in the midst ( Dreyfus) or the dual loyalty libel. Thereafter, the great replacement and the need to cleanse the world of the polluting Jew. Then came the Holocaust, and for a period, anti-Semitism became unfashionable and was thereafter replaced by anti-Zionism, the creed that designates Israel and Zionists as the embodiment of all that is evil and unclean in the world. Poland supposedly outlawed antisemitism but in 1968 expelled 13,000 Jews under the guise of anti-Zionism. It was in the former USSR that the anti-Zionist creed was developed and disseminated throughout the West, and it is that which has infested and infected universities.

The anti-Zionist Muslim countries of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco,Tunisia, and Algeria all became Judenrein. The Jew hate predated 1948, and one of the great Jew haters was the Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini, who cosied up to Hitler and promised to exterminate the Jews of Palestine.

The hunt spread and spread and never really ceased. From West to East, from Europe to the Middle East, the hunt continues, using different nomenclature and disguising itself in different clothing, but the result is the same. The evil Jew or the evil Zionist must be cleansed from the earth. The evil state must be eradicated — from the river to the sea — and its inhabitants disposed of, somewhere, somehow. By any means necessary.

In countries where there used to be Jews, there is Jewish tourism looking at what was. Once.

Eastern Europe. Central Europe. North Africa. The Middle East.

Western Europe heading the same way.

Will Australia be next?

Or are we there already?
