I Be That Maccabee

Today is a good day to die.
Sounded the Macabbee called Judah.
“Are you with me?”

Eye to eye they locked into his.
With swords in their right and axes in their left
Today would not be bereft.
Today they would let not the pagan enemy make our G-d and Jewish honor, a theft.

For today they would fight to the death and enter into Eternal Light.

“AYE. Sound the drum” Yelled the 700.
“I Be That Macabbee.
Let all the Jewish Future forever see
That on this day we did not sound the retreat
But laid down our shields and with sword and ax charged forward with running feet!”

Today a year after the Chanukah victory the 700 were surrounded
For the the warlord, Antiochus, kept the pursuit and hounded.

“NO FEAR. NO WORRY. NO DOUBT. TODAY WE DIE.”
SOUND THE DRUM”, gave command in unison, Judah and the 700.

First one strike of the drum. Then another. And then another.
They stomped their feet, gritted their teeth and unleashed their Souls until they intertwined and became united cosmic brothers.
For today they would die 700 times than retreat
and let the Chanukah Revolution end, cut off at the feet.

In the valley, ambushed by thousands of the enemy
they, the 700, would forever seal in blood the Eternal Jewish identity!

STOMPING. YELLING. GROWLING. THEY BEGAN CHARGING.

With blood soaking and the Holy Land drenching they cut through the pagan enemy.
As the 700 fell they forever sounded the Jewish Spirit and the Freedom Bell.
and forever filled the Eternal Jewish Honor Well.

And as the last Macabbee fell he threw his ax across 2000 years of exiled hell to land in the hand of Motke the Axeman, and his Palmach Men.

“I BE THAT MACCABEE”

the pledge kept by the Youth of 48
as 6000 heroic brothers and sisters fell to renew, rededicate and remake Jewish HONOR AND PRIDE GREAT.

I BE THAT MACCABEE!!!!

HAPPY CHANUKAH:

JUDAH, MATTHIAS HIS FATHER, THE FOUR HASMONEANS, THE MACCABEES, MY ABBA AND IMMA, THE YOUTH OF 1948, AND MY FELLOW BROTHERS AND SISTERS!!

THANK YOU, HASHEM, PROTECTOR AND CHAMPION OF ISRAEL
