I hope you’re feeling better soon!

“I hope you’re feeling better soon” said the smiling pharmacist !

Feeling a cold coming on I had popped into a Jaffa Road pharmacist to get a bottle of cough syrup. After a bit of explaining, I purchased a bottle of the Israeli equivalent to the type I use back home in Canada.

This most recent trip to Israel was intended to show support for Israel during the ‘ current situation ‘ . A spontaneous decision it saw me book my flight and fly out six days later.

Though many people were happy to learn why I had come and their smiles were reward enough, it was those six simple words said to me by the Jerusalem pharmacist that made my day and the whole trip !

Its amazing, one spends thousands of dollars and flies halfway around the world where one meets hundreds of people over a course of several weeks, yet a chance encounter with a complete stranger and their simple expression of concern will stay with one a lifetime.

Do we fully comprehend how our words can influence others ? And, more importantly how they may, perhaps not always be for the good.

I have no doubt that Israel will survive and flourish when it has citizens who are of a mindset that can casually utter such words of encouragement to a complete stranger !

” I hope you’re feeling better soon ! “
