Yad Vashem – The World Holocaust Remembrance Center has been collecting in all countries of the world documentary evidence of help to rescue Jews, and awards those who saved them from their inevitable death the honorary title of the Righteous Among the Nations already for about 60 years.
The number of the Righteous has been constantly growing as research continues to this day. Ukraine ranks fourth in the comprehensive list today.
The book “Righteous Among the Nations. Ukraine”, published by the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine in partnership with the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress to the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar massacre, includes 2,674 stories of the righteous Ukrainians.
I presented the book in Jerusalem to the Chairman of the Yad Vashem Directorate Dani Dayan. We are very grateful to the team of the World Holocaust Remembrance Center for assistance in its preparation. I am happy that Dani Dayan will join the dialogues of the third Kyiv Jewish Forum, which will be taking place on December 15-16.
