‘I will grant you rest’

Reflections on the Torah reading for the intermediate Sabbath of Passover

(Exodus 33:12 to 34:26)

 In a moment of uncertainty for Moses,

God answered Moses, “I will go with you

And I will grant you rest” ( Exodus 33: 14);

Therein lies your security.

Enter stillness, be stillness, remain stillness,

Effortless work, be still, and know I am God.

The Creator of the music of silence,

Of om, from shalom, the music of silence

Beckons us to listen, learn to see, find a voice;

Then there is no paralysis of self-doubt.

To be reborn is to begin anew.

“Happy is the person, who is content with his lot.”

(Ethics of the Fathers)

Faith in God throughout, brings rest for the soul.

If we are attuned to God’s channeled guidance,

Each thought, word and deed

Makes of us God’s scribes, messengers and spokespersons,

Nothing more,  nothing less,

We then become who we were meant to be.
