If Jews Are So White Someone Explain the Holocaust
If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?
—William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice
I’m accused of being “white” by a mob that consists of way too many white people. Paunchy, pink-haired lefties sprinkled amongst a sea of pro-Hamas-chanting lunatics.
Granted, I look white. Not quite Aryan white, but white enough to move through America passing—and being chastised for being—a white man.
Perhaps I’m considered “white-passing”—a new vomitous woke term for what Jews are now making it, “The Unbearable Whiteness of Being.”
Nobody seeing me on the street knows where I come from, or that my mother survived Dachau while my father managed to live through years in the labor camps* in Russia.
*For the average idiot who labels me white, gulag is the correct term. Here, we’d call it slavery.
So why, then, did my parents have to suffer through those traumatic experiences?
Ummm… Could it be…because they were labeled NOT WHITE?
If they weren’t white by the standards set by friggen Europeans—not just Germans, by the way; Nazi Germany had plenty of willing collaborators across Europe—then, ladies and germs, what does that make me?
All together now…
NOT WHITE.
My European Jewish parents were no longer simply members of a religion. The Nazis decided Jews were a race—and an inferior one at that.
My parents weren’t persecuted because of what they believed. They were persecuted because of what they suddenly were. Capiche?
And this is exactly what makes the word white so complicated for me as a Jewish person.
[SIDEBAR] I’m—we’re—not alone. Due to the tragically woke new American freakazoids, Christian men are also apparently so unbearably, inexcusably white that the very whiteness of their being is considered a detriment to society.
When someone casually tells me I’m “white,” part of me thinks:
This is the same schmuck who doesn’t understand that my parents survived A REAL ACTUAL GENOCIDE. The kind of genocide so horrendous that in 1944, attorney Raphael Lemkin gave the crime a fucking name while the Nazis were still busy annihilating European Jewry.
I never had grandparents. For the sheer fact that they were NOT WHITE.
Which—class—means I am not white either.
And here is the part the mob never has to answer for: European societies decided my parents weren’t white and murdered their families for it. A new generation has decided I am a white colonizer and wants to shame me for it. Same family. One century later. Pick a verdict—you can’t have both.
Therefore, if I’m not white, then everyone insisting that I am is doing the one thing they swear they’re against: assigning people a race and sentencing them accordingly. There’s a word for that. It’s not “activism.” It’s their own brand of RACISM.
Antisemites + Anti-Zionists = Racists.
Maybe this proves how dysfunctional our education system has become—failing our kids and lulling them into a zone of ignorance disguised as virtue. I can smell the signaling from here.
To be clear: this is not my late-to-the-party identity crisis post–October 7. I wrote about this very topic in my memoir, remembering what happened when I was bussed to a mixed-race—okay, basically all-Black—high school:
“The problem with being bussed to a mixed-race high school is that you are instantly recognized as ‘other’ just by your skin color. Not to split hairs, but Jews, technically, are not white since we hail from the Middle East and Africa, depending on which aspect of our history you choose to follow. But trying to explain that to a Black high school kid who only sees Black and White as you walk through the hallway is not an option. When I got dirty looks, what was I supposed to say? ‘Hey, man, I’m like you…only in the abstract.’ It’s a non-starter.”
Can you see the paradox even then?
In my Dwight Morrow High School hallway, I was white because someone else decided I was. But hearing stories of my mom’s experiences during the Holocaust, I knew early on that I was not white. I was Other—because the Nazis had decided it, and, in turn, we did not belong.
Same box. Different time. Different place. Different verdict.
I understand how I benefit from being perceived as white. Though if you look at my checking account and read my memoir, the last thing I’m suffering from is too much whiteness.
Privilege? Not quite enough, surely. Like my Black brothers and sisters, my heritage carries its own history of suffering.
We Jews know all too well how quickly a society can decide who is no longer welcome. Hence, being chased from hither to yon for multiple millennia.
At this point, the centuries-long obsession with killing Jews could almost be classified as a crime of passion. They hate us, but they simply cannot stop thinking about us. Curious, no? Pathetic, yes. Perverse is more like it.
Again, we see and hear how acceptable it has become in too many circles to talk about eliminating the unwanted Jew from various aspects of a culture that—don’t look now—we helped create the lion’s share of.
I cannot and will not excuse those who chant “from the river to the sea.” What I hear is nothing short of “Raus! Raus!” circa Nazi Germany. Calling for a world in which Israel ceases to exist is not only vile and karmically wrong but will ultimately come back to haunt those who believe it will come to pass.
Different century. Different outfits. Same fucking warning.
According to the ADL’s 2025 audit, antisemitic incidents in America now average seventeen a day—more than twice the daily average before October 7—and physical assaults against Jews have reached the highest level ever recorded. That’s not paranoia. That’s basic math—which is what most kids these days are failing at.
Yet, we still show up. We pray. We refuse to disappear.
Today, this not-white white boy has had just about enough.
If I get any angrier, pity the fool who walks by me and doesn’t automatically smile.
Maybe that’s why I resist reducing people to boxes and have since childhood. Dwight Morrow High School was a lesson in coexistence.
History taught me—and my family—what can happen when the box becomes more important than the human beings inside it.
Jews have survived literally every horrendous atrocity thrown at us. The armies, empires, and all the vile historical losers of yore have taken their shots. And they’re all gone. We’re still lighting candles.
They tried and failed to erase us for not being white. Nor will they erase us by simply deciding we are.
Not gonna happen. And I won’t be silent about it.
