If you can’t tell the difference – don’t call us, we don’t want your business!

I was congratulated last week by a connection on LinkedIn for posting my support for Israel, at the risk of my personal reputation and the potential of our business suffering.

I was quite surprised, but the bloke doesn’t know me very well. I take my responsibility of providing work for our 60 staff and their families, and hundreds of subcontractors and suppliers and their families very seriously. It is a privilege I never take for granted.

The truth is, I am not worried at all. For anyone who is concerned with anything I have posted in the last six weeks, that’s OK. You are entitled to your view. There are many good builders out there that you can engage with for professional building services, to work with, be employed by, or get advice from.

But to be clear:

If you don’t know the difference between right and wrong, without putting a “but” at the end — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you don’t know the difference between good and evil — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think that Hamas are “militants” or “freedom fighters”, and not terrorists part of a genocidal death cult — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think firing thousands of rockets at civilian populations is “exhilarating” — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think that targeting civilians, and hiding behind your own civilians so that more will die, and it looks better on TV — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think it’s justifiable to use hospitals as command centres, schools as weapons dumps or mosques as rocket launching sites — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think that cement is better used for building terror tunnels than for schools, hospitals, roads, factories and farms — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If the slaughtering, mutilating, cutting the heads off of, or incinerating some 1,200 unarmed civilians – men, women, children, elderly, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Arabs, Nepali, Thai doesn’t put a knot in your stomach that just won’t go away — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think that slaughtering babies, even cutting unborn babies out of their mother’s stomachs is a form of “resistance” — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think that burning people alive is an acceptable form of behaviour — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think it’s OK to kill children in front of their parents, and parents in front of their children — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think that filming it all and posting it around the world is OK — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think murdering someone and filming it on their own phone, then posting it on that victim’s Facebook page for all their friends to see is a good thing — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think Israel is committing genocide, when the Gaza population has tripled in the last few decades, and Israel makes every effort to minimise civilian casualties, even putting her own soldiers at greater risk to do so — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think that Hamas’s charter, which calls for the killing of all Jews, everywhere (which is a call to genocide) is just a joke, and they don’t really mean it — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think death is better than life — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think it’s OK to kidnap 240 people, including elderly and infants as young as 10 months old — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think that the International Red Cross should look after all hostages around the world… unless they’re Jews — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

If you think that a ceasefire or a “proportionate” response to this will solve the problem, when Hamas openly says they will do it again and again until Palestine is free (from Jews) from the river to the sea — don’t call us. We don’t want your business.

Horizon has been in continuous operation since 1989, always guided by our core values – always trying to do the right thing, to the best of our ability. We have Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and atheists all working in harmony. We have around us on every site every day, people from dozens of countries from across the globe – all working in perfect harmony. It has done us well so far, and we do not plan on changing anything.

Over the past six weeks, I have been extremely touched by the outpouring of care from our clients, designers, current and former staff, subcontractors and suppliers that have reached out to offer support – some who have not been in touch for several years. They are from all walks of life, all levels of wealth, all types of faiths. It has shown me the depths of the relationships we have formed whilst working together so closely. I am honoured.

Hence, I do not worry about being ostracized for my support of Israel. I have faith there are enough decent people around to keep us busy for many years to come, without having to compromise on our values and belief system. It’s not that hard.
