I’m Not Surprised

I’m not surprised.

I’m not surprised that when Israelis were faced with a life and death situation, they took matters into their own hands.

I’m not surprised that immediately there were conspiracy theories that the attempted hijacking was a “false flag”.

I’m not surprised that the first respondent was a 6 year old girl, who heard the commotion in the cockpit and ran back to tell her mother.

I’m not surprised that her mother raced toward the cockpit and alerted others.

I’m not surprised that the media downplayed the attempted hijacking and labeled it an “altercation in the cockpit”.

I’m not surprised that Israelis coming home from vacation with their families, showed courage, calm and strength.

I’m not surprised that various outlets claimed it was set up by Netanyahu.

I’m not surprised that Netanyahu met and thanked the passengers who acted swiftly and called the pilot who managed to open the door.

I’m not surprised that an Israeli used what he saw in a movie to right the plane.

I’m not surprised that the world mocked the plumber who saved the passengers.

I’m not surprised that the Israelis used ingenuity to find cords to restrain the co-pilot who was hacking the pilot.

I’m not surprised that the crew of the plane argued to untie the pilot.

I’m not surprised that Israelis took control of the situation.

I’m not surprised that haters turned the incident around to make the Israelis seem like the “bad guys”.

I’m not surprised that Jews, the world over, are saying this was a miracle.

I’m not surprised that haters, the world over, are saying it was all a lie.

I’m not surprised that Saudi Arabia showed graciousness to the Israeli passengers and treated the wounded.

I’m not surprised that the Israelis didn’t want to get back on a FlyDubai plane.

I’m not surprised that there are memes sharing AI pictures and messages saying that they will only fly with Israelis on board.

I’m not surprised that there are memes sharing AI pictures and messages saying that they will only fly if Israelis are banned.

I’m not surprised that I am so proud of my People.

I’m not surprised that I will never hesitate to fly to Israel.

I’m not surprised that I feel safe in my homeland.
