Insanity

I cannot recall who said it, but I once read a quotation that made a great deal  of sense to me. The message was quite succinct and to the point. It was akin to declaring that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result was a type of insanity. To continually repeat the exact same process or experimentation truly believing in an alternate ending would eventually make one either mad or totally disheartened.

There is also the Greek tale of Sisyphus ( if you have a significant lisp, just forget even trying) who was fated to roll a huge boulder up an extremely angled steep of a mountain, only to get within inches of reaching the pinnacle, only to have the rock roll back to the bottom where he would have to try to get it back up to the top again.

Sisyphus must have really been an Israeli government because we have been trying to push this “peace process” to a peak whereby we can see the world around us in tranquility and security. Time after time, from the Rhodes Armistice Agreements of 1949 which created the “green line” of armistice lines (No, the “67 borders were, in reality the 1949 ceasefire lines with Egypt and Jordan) through the seemingly unending and failed attempts to reach a binding agreement with our “Palestinian” neighbors, we have rolled this Sisyphean rock up and up only to have it reversed to roll on top of us and crush our proposals.

Every offer, even the most generous offer ever proposed by former prime minister Ehud Barak whereby 95% of our sacred homeland territories of Yehudah and Shomron, the Gaza Strip, all of the Old City of Jerusalem, save the Jewish Quarter and the Western Wall, would have been handed over the the Arafatian entity, was tossed aside by our neighbors.

Realize this once and for all. As Dr Mordechai Kedar of Bar Ilan University has lectured for years, our struggle with the Arabs has nothing to do with land-it is a religious war. Arabs have been attacking Jews for the last century here. There was no Ma’aleh Adumim in 1920 when Arabs rioted from the Temple Mount and killed Jews at prayer at the Western Wall.  when the PLO was formed in 1964, in Cairo by an Egyptian named Arafat and a Syrian named Shukeiry, the lands that it wants now  were in exclusively ARAB hands! What did they want to “liberate” then?

Islam, which purports to be the final word of G-d on Earth, cannot abide a Jewish sovereign state as in itself, it flies in the face of Islam. Judaism restored in its ancient homeland, in whatever place or manner, is a direct threat, in Islamic ideology, to the cult of Mohammed.  According to their ideology, the obstacle that it must destroy in its conquest of firstly, the Middle East, and then, by whatever means, the rest of civilization is the Jewish state, namely, Israel.

As he has averred, the only way to peace with Islam is through overwhelming strength and the projection of invincibility. Mohammed never attacked when he was not sure of total victory. The forces of Islam and the armies of Mohammed routinely broke treaties that they signed.   He broke truces that were agreed too and slaughtered his  enemies without mercy. Even Israeli soldiers’ dead bodies on the field of battle are routinely dismembered and defiled in the most horrific manner.  What further proof do you need of Islamic savagery than the beheadings of handcuffed men, the burning alive of a captured pilot and the gory stonings of women and the sight of gay men hanging from construction cranes in Teheran or watching them be thrown alive off of rooftops.

So, in order to survive Israel must be seen as invincible by its Arab enemy. We cannot be invincible when our eastern border is not secure. No, I don’t mean the border with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (the actual Arab Palestinian state) but we must make our territory within Yehudah and Shomron defined and defensible.

We must finally, without further Sisyphean negotiations with the so-called “Palestinian Authority”  draw our own line in the sand. It is time to apply Israeli law (because one does not annex your own territory) as we did to the Golan Heights and Jerusalem, to where the majority of the Jewish population in Yehudah and Shomron live, adjusting the lines to ensure contiguity and defensibility.  Area C as noted is under 100% Israeli control and those Jewish communities outside that territory, must be included in the lands to become, once and for all, part of the State of Israel.  Area C itself, is 98% Israeli and has less than 100,000 Arab inhabitants. They can be given the choice of Israeli citizenship, permanent non-citizen status as alien residents, or they can sell their properties and emigrate to wherever they can.

What remains can be declared anything the Arabs want, a PLO state,  or be absorbed by the Hashemites or whatever else, this must be done and the futile talks leading us to nowhere have to be halted. If the “Palestinians” fail to recognize this act through continued terrorism and barbarism, so be it. Because a PLO entity cannot be trusted to ever make peace with a Jewish state as that would undermine the very Islam they profess. Why does one think that Abu Mazen says that he recognizes Israel, but not as a Jewish state?

Islam has destroyed states in the past, even Moslem entities have changed hands from one Arab dynasty to another with bloodshed and massacre.  Islam didn’t gain the Hejaz , the Middle East and North Africa through negotiations! He waged war on the cities of Mecca and Medina.

The two state solution is a fantasy as any PLO entity will either be eliminated as a security threat to the Hashemites in Amman or, if such a state continues to conduct terrorist warfare against Israel  then Israel would be in its right to defend itself vociferously. Because a state, any state, inherits the mantle of responsibility in its dealings with its neighbors and a sovereign state will bear the consequences of any aggression against a neighbor. So, if as much as a bullet fired in anger, emanating from a PLO state would enter Israeli territory, that would provide a pretext for war.

So, it’s time to stop the insanity, It’s time to walk away from this failed experiment and endlessly futile negotiating table. It’s time to say to the world that these are our borders and any state or terror organization that attacks us will be dealt with severely and without constraint.

There is an expression from my youth that was often applied to people who were consistently ill motivated to accomplish any worthwhile task. Sometimes one has to be unerringly frank and use language that might be thought of as scatological, or basically, not used in company. But it’s underlying message was made quite clear to all to whom it was directed. Now, I direct it to the Israeli government as to the constant dithering and diplomatic obfuscating in regard to the negotiations with the “Palestinian Authority”-excuse me for saying so, but it’s time to crap or get off the pot.

Israel must have the strength to walk away. Israel cannot afford insanity.
