INTRO: Uni-Corny Nation: Life and Tech in the Holy Land

Welcome to the Uni-Corny Nation!

Israel is well known as Start-Up Nation, now turning into Scale-up or Unicorn Nation.

And of course, it’s always been the Holy Land.

In between these two seemingly apposite things is a whole massive fabric of daily life in this incredible land.

Yes, people work like crazy (Sunday’s a work day!).

Yes, it’s not easy being in the roughest neighborhood on earth, with tens of thousands of missiles pointed at you from at least three directions.

Oh yes, the politics are no-holds-barred. For sure, people are super direct.

But life in the Jewish nation is nothing if not full of flavor, color, warmth, sun, sand, and one endlessly beautiful and fascinating land full of history (both tragedy and triumph).

To paraphrase Ben-Gurion, to be a realist in Israel means believing in miracles.

And so, as we settle into life here, I am documenting some of the special — and especially meaningful moments we experience.

And of course, being in tech and running the Commander-in-Chief podcast where I interview a lot of tech unicorn CEOs from Israel, I will be telling some of the incredible stories of humble beginnings, crazy pivots and incredible technology created here.
