Iran has pretty much given Israel a very influential seat at the table

By including Lebanon and Hezbollah into the equation, Iran has given Israel enormous clout.

Because now the finalization of the peace deal, and the opening of the Hormuz strait, depends on what Israel does.

Israel insists it will stay in Southern Lebanon until Hezbollah is no longer a threat. But Iran considers Israel’s presence in Southern Lebanon a deal breaker.

So now what Israel does, affects the US-Iran peace deal.

Why would Iran give Israel this influence? The US had asked Israel to not attack Beirut, and Israel had agreed. So Hezbollah was safe in that area. Iran could have left Lebanon out of the picture, worked out an agreement with the US on the nuclear issue, and would have received its frozen assets and the removal of sanctions. Plus there is reportedly a 300 billion dollar fund that would have been invested to rebuild Iran.

So why did Iran insist on including Lebanon, thus jeopardizing the peace deal, and also giving Israel so much clout? By doing this, Iran has given Israel the opportunity to exercise power and influence on the peace deal, and indeed on the global economy. Because if Israel refuses to do what Iran wants in Lebanon, and Iran then closes Hormuz, then Israel has the welfare of the global economy in its hands.

By insisting that Hezbollah and Lebanon be part of the deal, it’s as if Israel now has an important seat at the table.

Why did Iran do something which seems so counterproductive to its interests?

Perhaps, just as it happened with Pharaoh of old (that G-d hardened Pharaoh‘s heart), here too He is confusing Iran’s leaders, and influencing them to demand something that can end up working against them.

In the past few years, we have seen tremendous miracles, as Israel rose up and miraculously beat its enemies. And now the miracles are continuing, as Israel runs the show, and the Almighty continues to protect the Jewish people.
