Iran, Israel and the Two State Solution

The way to solve the Israel/Iran conflict is to get to the root of it.

The question is whether the root of the conflict is about the Palestinian future, or whether it is about Iranian ideology and expansionism.

This is fundamentally important because most Western leaders – and some residual figures on the Israeli left – assume it is all about Palestine, and if you have a two-state solution, you solve all the problems.

Most Israelis, I understand, assume it is all about Iranian ideology and expansionism, believing if you have a two-state solution, you simply escalate the conflict to a new level of bloody inter-state intensity.

None of the Western leaders, in coming out with their repetitive calls for the two-state solution, has yet clarified with Iran whether they would accept it, agree ties with Israel, and demilitarise their proxies.

Or whether they would reject it and continue to build up their proxies with the same exterminationist intent they have displayed until now.

I think it would be a good thing to know.
