Is Israel ours?

Jews are gullible and generous enough to doubt their right to a homeland

There are six fields of attention in which Jews are questioned if they have the rights to an undisputed homeland and an unthreatened survival. We can answer these attacks and must have the arguments at our fingertips.

In the classical Marxist view, the workers of all nations should unite. National independence is then obsolete. But, after World War Two, many emerging Peoples, the smaller, the better, applied for statehood. This was discovered and recognized as a right. Except for the Jews. They should assimilate into the Nations and disappear, or they are imperialists.

Trying to rid the world of cultures (languages, dialects, religions, foods, national traditions) is the essence of racism and genocide. Traditionally, some racists hyper-focus on skin color, appearance, DNA, or beliefs, but they’ll all try to eliminate ‘inferiors.’ This is outrageous, of course, unless when perpetrated on Jews. They should intermarry, or they are the racists. NB: Jews live not only in the shadow of the Holocaust but still are under threat of extinction, now by Muslim terrorists and Christian missionaries financed with endless streams of billions of dollars to try and end all Jewish life once and for all, while the rest of the world stands by and does zero.

Buddhists and Anarchists may deny all ownership. Still, when a stranger breaks into your house and starts living there, almost all people would call the police. Reb Shlomo Carlebach, the singing, dancing rabbi who loved everyone, calls Israel the bedroom of G^d with His People. As the only People in the world, only the Jews are pressured to forgo ownership.

Every country in the world favors its own citizens over foreigners. Refugees are allowed in but not to take over the country. It’s called nationalism. Nationals living abroad are allowed to return. Non-nationals are allowed to apply for citizenship. Non-nationals who live there already do have the same democratic rights. Israel has all of that. On top of that, it has an active policy to absorb (Jewish) refugees, and those Whites, Arabs, Spaniards, and Italians intermarry at a scale not seen in any country. Yet, when Israelis favor their own over non-Jews, they are called racists.

Jews are the only People not based on a shared location, language, belief, culture, or history. The origin of the Jewish People is that we have a Divine Task. And we have the talents needed to answer this higher Calling. That’s why a Jew cannot opt out. That would be as bad as a woman giving up her opinion or voice. You can’t just deny your potential because outside forces make it hard on you. But, a most important part of the Jewish Obligation is to teach Gentiles and represent G^d’s Voice on Earth. So, naturally, we feel sympathy for Gentiles. Even when they hate us. It’s easier for Jews to have empathy with Gentiles than solidarity with their fellow Jews. Of course, this comes too from external and internalized anti-Jewish hate. Shockingly, many Jews toil against the State of Israel alongside real Antisemites. They feel so much for Gentiles that no love is left for their own. If these Jews are often so naïve and sweet, in the end, might they turn pro-Jewish? Mistake.

There seems nothing wrong with Jews living in their Homeland, united and in peace, intermarrying, determining what they want to share or give away and what to keep, and protecting what’s theirs, like every Nation. But, the first comment of our First Commentator on the Torah told us a millennium ago that, when the Nations of the world tell us that we have no business to be in the Land, we should read the Torah and understand that G^d created the world and gave the lands to whomever He wished. This is then not a lecture to the Gentiles. We should read it for ourselves. Typically, Jews will doubt most if we merit possessions and deserve safe lives. But we do too.

What does the Two-State Solution really mean?

Knowledge is power; get informed!

The first thing is that from left-wing to right-wing, all Israelis know of this so-called solution is dead as a dodo and has been flogged into compost years ago. Only foreign leaders talk about it, together with Jesus and Mohammed, as if they’re still alive. When an Israeli leader confirms their words s/he means: Sure, you’re entitled to believe in Santa Claus and the Easter bunny too. I won’t be the one to wake you up from your pipe dream.

Beware of the fallacy: ‘It’s the only solution there is.’ Not seeing another solution doesn’t prove the only one you see is any good. But, to comfort those who must have an answer, look here & good luck implementing.

When an anti-Zionistic Palestinian Muslim dictator talks about it, he also doesn’t mean two states living side-by-side in peace and prosperity. You can’t divide a small two-bedroom apartment into two apartments. S/he means: Surely, we want to have sovereignty over this piece; and then that piece; and then the other piece—a different piece process.

BTW: They want independence but not a fellow democracy, freedom for their population—are you kidding? (Also, the international ‘supporters’ will not plead for Palestinian human rights. They’re just anti-Jewish, not pro-Palestinian.) They want the same ruthless dictatorship they run already, without human rights, freedom of religion (no Jews allowed, although ten percent of them are decedents of forcefully converted Jews), opinion, free speech, elections, assembly, etc., women subjected, gays killed.

Westerners cannot automatically be assumed to have malicious motives for supporting the TSS. It may just come from dumb ignorance.

And then there is this (recurring) fake news that, in a One-State Solution, Jews would be a minority. How did they accomplish this trick this time? They raised the number of Muslims from 3.5 to 7 million by adding Gaza and taking for real the doubled Palestinian Authority’s statistics about the West Bank (the world’s only bank that never holds any money or water). It’s like saying that less than 0.1 (instead of 20) percent of the Canadian population’s mother tongue is French after adding the USA to the mix.

Now we’re at it: People of the cloth should stay out of all politics being so naïve and focused on virtue that professional con artists eat them alive.

Dual vs dueling nationalities

Different populations deal quite differently with diverse nationalities.

In the US, hyphened nationalities are nothing special. People may identify as Afro-American as easily as their non-hyphened counterparts go single-rooted. Only racists would call a Black or Asian American, not an American.

In Russia, a Jew and a Russian are like apples and oranges. If you are one, you’re not the other. The nationalities exclude each other. So, Russian Jews who immigrated to Israel were so surprised here to be called Russian.

In the Netherlands, Jews are not a nationality. There’s no Jewish passport. Jews there are like fruit farmers or Catholics. No hyphen. There, only Racists and Antisemites hyphenate or see the two as mutually excluding.

Three mentalities, approaches, and consciousnesses that make you ponder.

About the Author
MM is a prolific and creative writer and thinker, an almost daily blog contributor to the Times of Israel, and previously, for decades, he was known to the Jerusalem Post readers as a frequent letter writer. He often makes his readers laugh, mad, or assume he's nuts—close to perfect blogging. He's proud that his analytical short comments are removed both from left-wing and right-wing news sites. None of his content is (partly) generated by AI. * As a frontier thinker, he sees things many don't yet. He's half a prophet. Half. Let's not exaggerate. He doesn't believe that people observe and think in a vacuum. He, therefore, wanted a broad bio that readers interested can track a bit about what (lack of) backgrounds, experiences, and education contribute to his visions. * If you don't know the Dutch, get an American peek behind the scenes here: https://youtu.be/QMPp6h6r72M * To find less-recent posts on subject XXX among his 2000 archived ones, go to the right-top corner of a Times of Israel page, click on the search icon and search "zuiden, XXX". One can find a second, wilder blog, to which one may subscribe, here: https://mmvanzuiden.wordpress.com/. * Like most of his readers, he believes in being friendly, respectful, and loyal. Yet, if you think those are his absolute top priorities, you might end up disappointed. His first loyalty is to the truth. He will try to stay within the limits of democratic and Jewish law, but he won't lie to support opinions or people who don't deserve that. He admits that he sometimes exaggerates to make a point, which could have him come across as nasty, while in actuality, he's quite a lovely person to interact with. He holds - how Dutch - that a strong opinion doesn't imply intolerance of other views. * Sometimes he's misunderstood because his wide and diverse field of vision seldomly fits any specialist's box. But that's exactly what some love about him. He has written a lot about Psychology (including Sexuality and Abuse), Medicine (including physical immortality), Science (including basic statistics), Politics (Israel, the US, and the Netherlands, Activism), Oppression and Liberation (intersectionally, for young people, the elderly, non-Whites, women, workers, Jews, LGBTQIA+, foreigners and anyone else who's dehumanized or exploited), Integrity, Philosophy, Jews (Judaism, Zionism, Holocaust, and Jewish Liberation), the Climate Crisis, Ecology and Veganism, Affairs from the news, or the Torah Portion of the Week, or new insights that suddenly befell him. * His most influential teachers (chronologically) are his parents, Nico (natan) van Zuiden and Betty (beisye) Nieweg, Wim Kan, Mozart, Harvey Jackins, Marshal Rosenberg, Reb Shlomo Carlebach, and, lehavdil bein chayim lechayim, Rabbi Dr. Natan Lopes Cardozo, Rav Zev Leff, and Rav Meir Lubin. * One of his rabbis calls him Mr. Innovation [Ish haChidushim]. Yet, his originalities seem to root deeply in traditional Judaism, though they may grow in unexpected directions. In fact, he claims he's modernizing nothing. Rather, mainly basing himself on the basic Hebrew Torah text, he tries to rediscover classical Jewish thought almost lost in thousands of years of stifling Gentile domination and Jewish assimilation. (He pleads for a close reading of the Torah instead of going by rough assumptions of what it would probably mean and before fleeing to Commentaries.) This, in all aspects of life, but prominently in the areas of Free Will, Activism, Homosexuality for men, and Redemption. * He hopes that his words will inspire and inform, and disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed. He aims to bring a fresh perspective rather than harp on the obvious and familiar. He loves to write encyclopedic overviews. He doesn't expect his readers to agree. Rather, original minds should be disputed. In short, his main political positions are among others: anti-Trumpism, anti-elitism, anti-bigotry and supremacy, for Zionism, Intersectionality, and non-violence, anti those who abuse democratic liberties, anti the fake ME peace process, for original-Orthodoxy, pro-Science, pro-Free Will, anti-blaming-the-victim, and for down-to-earth, classical optimism, and happiness. * He is a fetal survivor of the pharmaceutical industry (https://diethylstilbestrol.co.uk/studies/des-and-psychological-health/), born in 1953 to parents who were Dutch-Jewish Holocaust survivors who met in the largest concentration camp in the Netherlands, Westerbork. He grew up a humble listener. It took him decades to become a speaker too. Bullies and con artists almost instantaneously envy and hate him. * He holds a BA in medicine (University of Amsterdam) – is half a doctor. He practices Re-evaluation Co-counseling since 1977, is not an official teacher anymore, and became a friendly, empowering therapist. He became a social activist, became religious, made Aliyah, and raised three wonderful kids non-violently. For a couple of years, he was active in hasbara to the Dutch-speaking public. He wrote an unpublished tome about Jewish Free Will. He's being a strict vegan since 2008. He's an Orthodox Jew but not a rabbi. He lives with his library in Jerusalem. Feel free to contact him. * His writing has been made possible by a (second-generation) Holocaust survivors' allowance from the Netherlands. It has been his dream since he was 38 to try to make a difference by teaching through writing. He had three times 9-out-of-10 for Dutch at his high school finals but is spending his days communicating in English and Hebrew - how ironic. G-d must have a fine sense of humor. In case you wonder - yes, he is a bit dyslectic. If you're a native English speaker and wonder why you should read from people whose English is only their second language, consider the advantage of having an original peek outside of your cultural bubble. * To send any personal reaction to him, scroll to the top of the blog post and click Contact Me. * His newest books you may find here: https://www.amazon.com/s?i=stripbooks&rh=p_27%3AMoshe-Mordechai%2FMaurits+van+Zuiden&s=relevancerank&text=Moshe-Mordechai%2FMaurits+van+Zuiden&ref=dp_byline_sr_book_1
