Streets remember all our names
But never hear us when we cry
We learned to whisper lullabies
To dreams we’re told we can’t believe
Hands tied tight by ancient lies
Still our hearts refuse to leave
We don’t ask for crowns or gold
Just the right to breathe alone
To wake without the weight of fear
To call our bodies, souls our own

To live our lives with open minds
In freedom and dignity

For a tomorrow, we can keep
To laugh out loud, to choose our paths

We dream of coffee in the sun
Of music played without disguise
Dancing barefoot in the rain
No shame behind our eyes
Of mothers sleeping through the night
Of daughters choosing who they’ll be
Of fathers growing old in peace
Of faith that isn’t forced on me
We don’t want to live locked down
Trapped and buried back in time
Bring a new dawn full of light
Bright futures, yours and mine
