Islamophobia in the light of Judeo-Christian morality

From the GATESTONE Institute publication “Christchurch Murders: The Real Accomplices”:

Two days before the tribute to the victims and the broadcasting of the call to prayer, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern invited an imam to read the Koranic verses of Surah al Baqarah before the opening of a parliamentary session. Surah al Baqarah speaks of “those who are killed in the way of Allah” and evokes a “great punishment” for “those who disbelieve”. Do New Zealanders really deserve a great punishment because an Australian came to New Zealand and committed a mass murderer?

In Saudi Arabia, the good news is that in 2018, a few laws were changed to allow women to drive. The bad news is that women are still not allowed to travel, get married or divorced, file a police report, or even leave prison, without the permission of a male guardian. If they try to flee, they risk being arrested or killed. In November, “dozens” of activists involved in the “right to drive” campaign were arrested and are currently on trial. Apple and Google, in their app stores, offer a Saudi Arabian government app that “allows Saudi men to track women under their sponsorship.”

The real accomplices of Christchurch mass murderer are not those who sounded the alarm about Muslim immigration to the West, but those in the West who embrace this passive submission, weakness and cultural suicide and refuse to see the potential storms ahead.

This GATESTONE publication does not justify the murdering of unarmed and innocent people as some may feel and indeed cannot be justified. It is a call for searching the true reasons for this mass murder – that might be Islamophobia or something else – to make it less probable in the future.

Is the event described in the above rooted in Islamophobia or that is something completely different? At the core of phobia definition is an irrational fear of or aversion to something. Is the event in the above irrational or hateful to Islam in general?

To find the answer to this question, we should recall some vital lessons of the Torah/Bible which are mostly forgotten:

Because God is the Supreme Power above us the humans, He could be understood only by testing His different images – from an almighty power of caring and loving father to an almighty power of laws of nature. We the humans are testing different God’s images, and the rules of human behavior coming from the images, mostly through different religions.

Judaism and Christianity of the Judeo-Christian Western world are in competition with the Eastern Christians, with the Islam, and with many Asian religions such as Buddhism or Hinduism for example, and that is as it should be.

Thus, the very existence of different religions is the spiritual human realm, and no phobias to any religion should exist. However, it exists – we have a sort of phobia in the form of Islamophobia, and only in the form of Islamophobia – we do not experience a Buddhism-phobia or Hinduism-phobia. Why? And why in China and India many are infected with Islamophobia as well?

In the countries where Islam is a ruling force, the other religions are eradicated or reduced to the state of dhimmis – that is being subservient to Islam and Muslims – everywhere! That is the history of all territories with no exceptions where Islam gained step-by-step the power– in the 12-15th centuries in Spain and Portugal which were occupied and Islamized by the North-Africa Muslims, in the 12-20th centuries in the countries of Central Europe which were occupied and Islamized by the Ottoman Empire, in the 7-10th centuries in Egypt, in the 20th century in Kosovo, in the 18-20th centuries in some countries of Asia and Africa …
In the countries where different varieties of Christianity, Buddhism or Hinduism are dominant regions, Islam is freely practiced. In those countries Islam is freely practiced but monitored and controlled to prevent Islam from gaining the legislative power and threatening the others through this power, and this monitoring and controlling some people in the USA label as Islamophobia.

However, what some people try to label as Islamophobia is not a phobia against Muslims as the human beings – rather, that is a fear of Islam gaining power and subverting the Judeo-Christian foundation of our nation.

From the news media:

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), the controversial freshman member of the U.S. House of Representatives who has a habit of indulging in anti-Semitic stereotypes, complains about feeling marginalized in a land of white privilege. In an interview with Vogue Arabia, Rep. Omar, a refugee originally from Somalia who became a U.S. citizen nearly 20 years ago, waxed nostalgic about her days in a Kenyan refugee camp. She spent four years there as a child before resettling in the United States. At the refugee camp, Omar said, she could express her full identity. She felt free to be herself, living amongst like-minded people who looked and believed as she did. “When you’re a kid and you’re raised in an all-black, all- Muslim environment, nobody really talks to you about your identity,” Omar said. “You just are. There is freedom in knowing that you are accepted as your full self. So the notion that there is a conflict with your identity in society was hard at the age of 12.”

That is what fuels the so-called Islamophobia – a Muslim elected to US Congress to support the US Constitution which is rooted in the Judeo-Christian morality want to govern by her – Islamic – morality incompatible with the Judeo-Christian morality.

From the news media:

China’s ruler, Xi Jinping, demands that the five recognized religions — official recognition is a control mechanism — “Sinicize.” The Chinese, as a part of this ruthless and relentless effort, are destroying mosques and churches, forcing devout Muslims to drink alcohol and eat pork, inserting Han officials to live in Muslim homes, and ending religious instruction for minors.

This sounds and is terrible and excessive, but we must pay attention to the leading word here – Sinicize, meaning to learn the national public Chinese morality and live by it.

What fuels so-called Islamophobia in China is that the Islamic minorities want to be governed by their own Islamic morality incompatible with the Chinese morality.

From the news media:

The United States has imposed a visa ban on Fatou Bensouda, chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) due to her investigations of alleged war crimes by Americans, Bensouda’s office announced on Friday.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned last month that the US would revoke entry visas for members of the Hague who investigate possible war crimes by US forces in Afghanistan.

“I am announcing a policy on those individuals directly responsible for any ICC investigations of US personnel,” Pompeo said. “This includes persons who take or have taken action to request or further such an investigation.”

Bensouda, an African-born Muslim from Gambia who had been the prosecutor since 2012 is the first member to be sanctioned by the US.

That is a good sign of US awakening to the dangers of Islam when Islamic morality, which is no doubt good for Islamic countries, is applied in the American Judeo-Christian realm. This Muslim judge is not allowed to enter the USA not because she is a Muslim and the USA is infected with Islamophobia but because she is judging based on her Islamic beliefs of what is Good and what is Bad, and these beliefs are incompatible with the American Judeo-Christian beliefs.

Conclusion:
We in the USA, and that is applicable to Israel as well, must deliver a strong message to all who are subverting our national Judeo-Christian (in Israel, just Judeo) morality: Be “Americanized” (in Israel, be “Israeli-ized”) in the public realm and practice your non-Judeo-Christian beliefs privately at home, or you may suffer from a phobia.

About the Author
Vladimir Minkov graduated from the Naval Engineering Academy in the former Soviet Union, served in the Soviet Navy and there received his Ph.D. At the end of 1970s he immigrated to America where democracy and the Judeo-Christian spirituality of this country made it possible for him to actively defend both his scientific and spiritual ideas. In the USA he has found the place for his scientific public work in the spiritual realm of One God and Torah.
