Israel’s Economic Mission & Bonds team for special event at #SXSW 2014 – Austin
Two years ago, I met Michal Niddam-Waschman at a café on Rothchild Boulevard in Tel Aviv right before she and her family were getting ready to move to Houston. Michal would soon be taking over in her new role as the Consul for Economic Affairs – U.S. Southern Region for the Government of Israel.
Aside from her official duties in promoting trade relations between the U.S. and Israel, I told her that she was quite fortunate to be headed over to what I call “The Other Holy Land,” Texas.
Where else can you find great Tex-Mex food, Alamo Beer, the best Barbeque on earth, genuine Texas music, umpteen varieties of fresh salsa, and my personal favorite cultural event of the year, SXSW, which happens every Spring in Austin.
This year, Michal’s wonderful team in Houston will be working to support the Israeli start-ups, musical artists and filmmakers who are taking part in SXSW’s Interactive, Film and Music tracks, by conducting an invitation-only event where they will be match-making investors, strategic partners and agencies who are looking for Israeli creativity and innovation.
Building For The Israel of Tomorrow
Teaming this year at SXSW 2014, will also be a new initiative from Israel Bonds’ New Leadership Division, which is aiming to introduce the idea of investing in Israel to a younger generation.
Framing what’s next, and what could be, Israel Bonds’ investment platform allows investors to become stakeholders in a Nation of Innovation by helping Israel fund both traditional infrastructure like roads, bridges and buildings as well as the next generation of the pipes – schools, digital networks, labs, etc. – that are needed as Israel’s stature in the global high-tech and start-up economies continues to evolve. Israel Bonds strengthen every sector of Israel’s economy and create the atmosphere for innovation while, at the same time, providing a reliable financial return to investors.
It’s appropriate that an event like SXSW 2014, we are served with an opportunity to meet, collaborate, and invest in Israel at its best.
If you are coming to The Other Holy Land for SXSW 2014, and want to take part in this special event, please send an email to – Neil Segel – neil dot segel at IsraelTrade dot gov dot il – for more details.
And God Bless Texas :).
