Israel Goes to Elections
The stunt Itamar Ben-Gvir tried to pull on Netanyahu this week suggests he’s going to be hit by retaliation from Netanyahu and his coalition partners.
But Itamar Ben-Gvir has nothing to worry about. He has a solid base, primarily of young people, which is the result of indoctrination programs that have been operating in Israel paid for by the Israeli government for the past 15 years.
However, what happened this week, in addition to the issue of the draft of yeshiva students, will likely push Netanyahu to call elections in the coming months. Israel will go to the polls because Netanyahu will never again be as strong politically than he is now.
Netanyahu takes credit for dealing with Hezbollah(although he was affraid of dealing with them for almost a year), for undermining the Assad regime, and for the pagers operation that led to the entire house of cards collapsing. He systematically leaks to foreign media outlets that it’s his doing. “He ordered it,” the “sources” claim.
Likud will remain the largest party in the next elections as well. October 7, the most horrific massacre of Jews since World War II, is currently a distant memory that doesn’t interest voters from the right that elected him. The Haredi parties will maintain or increase their power, thanks to unbeatable demographics, and the far-right factions of Smotrich and Ben-Gvir will also get their seats. The right-wing camp will form the next government too. Simply because, from a mathematical perspective, not enough center-left voters were born or “produced.” Certainly not in times of ongoing war. Naftali Bennet will likely take voters only from the center-left, who again will be fooled by their new “False Messiah”.
The only question Netanyahu needs to decide on is whether he wants a hostage deal before the elections. Which I assume he would want to do.
The man responsible for the terrible massacre of October 7, with 1,200 dead and 250 kidnapped, has managed to absolve himself of blame.
And now they’re returning to promoting Levin’s legal coup, advancing the takeover of the media (with Netanyahu behind it), and everything will go downhill.
Settlements will be re-established in the Gaza Strip, settlements will be expanded in the West Bank, the facts on the ground will increase, all with the support and encouragement of a Donald Trump. In fact, Trump will give a free hand to the Israeli government to do whatever it wants.
Israelis are like frogs in a pot slowly heating water. The temperature is rising and rising and is close to boiling. Everything will be cooked soon. Simply because there’s no way to defeat the demographics.
There are quite a few people who say, “If Bibi wins the elections again, we’re leaving.” Yes, unfortunately an exodus of the best minds and productive and economic forces will follow.
