Israel stands its ground
Israel is politely telling the US “no” to withdrawing from Gaza in stages while Hamas slowly disarms. Israel told Turkey in no uncertain terms “no” when Israel just bombed a Syrian airbase where, according to Israel, Turkey was planning to move in. Israel is standing its ground. It’s not giving in when it comes to maintaining security. Israel is determined to defend itself, and the world sees it.
Iran hasn’t bombed Israel these days, even though Iran bombed Arab states in the Gulf, including US bases there. Why hasn’t Iran bombed Israel? Because Iran is afraid. Because Iran knows that if they do attack Israel, Israel will take out Iranian leadership, just as they did in the past.
Israel’s stature is rising. The ICC, which issued an arrest warrant against Netanyahu and Galant (the former defence minister), is being sanctioned by the US. In South America, countries that have been adversarial to Israel, are suddenly being friendly, as newly-elected presidents in Chile and Columbia, and a new regime in Venezuela, are increasingly warming up relations with Israel.
What is happening? Why all of a sudden is Israel in such an advantageous and dominating position? Where they’re not afraid to tell the US “no.” And where countries are increasingly wanting to establish close relations with Israel. What has changed?
Two things. One is the attitude. Israel is standing up for its rights, as any country which was attacked would. And the world understands this now.
And the second thing? The Almighty is watching over Israel, and performing wondrous miracles.
Other nations trusted in their might, their status, and their past prestige. And now the world is in shock, as they see how easily their economy and their well-being can be upended by just one rogue nation like Iran blocking a choke point like the Strait of Hormuz. Nations realize, that they cannot trust in their might, because situations can change so quickly.
And Israel? Israel does not trust in its might. Israel has seen the open miracles. They need an army, because G-d wants us to work with nature. But at the same time, G-d wants us to realize that He is the source of blessing and success.
“And the Lord your G-d will bless you in everything that you do.” (Deuteronomy 15; 18) We need to do. But we also need to realize that we need the Almighty‘s blessings and providence to ensure that our efforts are successful.
The world realizes now more than ever, that the Almighty runs the world.
Israel realizes more than ever, that we need to put our trust not in other countries, not in our friends and allies, not even in our sophisticated high-tech army. Israel realizes, that we need to trust in G-d.
