Israel – ‘The Wild West’
Israeli civilians are becoming increasingly armed. After each terror attack, Arabs (Palestinians) feel that they have the upper hand against Israelis in the current situation. Young Palestinians line up these days wanting nothing more than to commit suicide missions anywhere in Israel, particularly in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Israel is finding that the tougher their response, the more they embolden the young Palestinians. There is no way Israelis can stop all of these “missions”, as they are scattered and not always coordinated.
As Israeli ministers Ben Gvir, Smotrich, and others pronounce new steps and methods to stop the wave of terror, the Palestinians are uninterrupted in their planning of terror attacks. On the contrary, their equipment and finding has only improved.
The settler community in the West Bank know that they are living on the front line. As these shooting attacks become more and more frequent, many settlers have already begun to carry a firearm. The West Bank is now reminiscent of the “Wild West”, as settlers serve as the primary protection for their communities.
Netanyahu, under pressure from the far right, came up with the declaration about building thousands of new housing projects for the West Bank. The Palestinians did not take long to respond to Netanyahu’s proclamation, killing four Israelis in the latest terror attack. The “Bravado” proclamations by our government also generated negative responses from the US and other European countries, which declared it to be a negative step for any Peace resolution in the region.
At a time in which Israel is embroiled in inner serious struggle, the last thing we need now is pressure from all sides, terror from within, and criticism from outside.
