Israel’s Brazen Attack on Iran
Israeli attack on Iran today marks a horrifying turning point in the history of the Middle East. With a brazen disregard for diplomacy and regional stability, Israel has unleashed a wave of consequences that threaten to push the region—and the world—into an era of permanent nuclear escalation. This reckless action has not only destabilized a fragile balance but has also exposed the moral and strategic bankruptcy of Zionism as a framework for Jewish safety and peace.
Israel, a country with an undeclared but widely acknowledged nuclear arsenal, continues to demand that other nations—especially Iran—remain non-nuclear. But what moral standing does a state the size of New Jersey have to dictate nuclear policy to a regional power like Iran, when it refuses to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and maintains its own arsenal in secret? This hypocrisy undermines international norms and increases the risk of nuclear proliferation across the region.
Far from being a beacon of safety for the Jewish people, Israel has become a powder keg—endangering not only Jews within its borders, but Jews around the world. American Jews, and Jewish communities in Europe and beyond, must recognize that blind support for Israel’s militarism is not a defense of Jewish values—it is a betrayal of them. Israel’s aggressive posture, its systemic oppression of Palestinians, and its disregard for international law have rendered it not a sanctuary but a global liability.
This attack on Iran is not an isolated incident. It is the latest chapter in a century-long failure of Zionism to fulfill its central promise: the protection and flourishing of Jewish life. Instead, Zionism as implemented through the Israeli state has delivered over a hundred years of war, occupation, and existential threat. It has turned Israel into the most dangerous country in the Middle East—for Jews, for Palestinians, and for the region.
Now, more than ever, the world must condemn Israel’s actions. Governments must speak out, but even more critically, Jewish voices in America and elsewhere must take the lead. It is not antisemitic to criticize Israel—it is a moral imperative when Israeli policies violate the values of justice, equality, and peace.
There is an alternative. A better future is possible.
I call upon the rational world and the global Jewish community to support the creation of a Federal Government in Israel and Palestine—a new political structure that can finally deliver peace, equality, and security to all who live between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.
Such a federal government would be the only democratically and constitutionally elected body representing all the inhabitants of Israel and Palestine, regardless of religion or ethnicity. It would be based on a constitution that separates religion from government, ensuring equality, fairness, and civil rights for all. Importantly, this government would feature a safety mechanism: veto power for both the Israeli and Palestinian governments, ensuring that no single group could dominate the other and that all decisions are made with mutual consent.
Every Israeli government to date has failed to bring peace. They have led the region through endless cycles of war, violence, and fear. A federal government, by contrast, would be a fresh, independent entity—free to take bold initiatives for peace and security.
This government could form direct diplomatic delegations to the governments of Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran. Its mandate would be clear: make peace. Representing Jews, Muslims, Christians, and others who live in the region, the federal government would be uniquely positioned to advocate for coexistence from a place of shared interest and mutual respect.
It would demand a regional commitment to cease violence, stop threats, and move toward peaceful coexistence. It would expose those who continue to sow hatred and division, and it would amplify the voices of those who seek a better future.
Ultimately, a federal government in Israel and Palestine would not only provide the legitimacy and fairness that current governments lack—it would become the only hope for lasting peace in the region. The time for nationalist power structures and unilateral aggression is over. The future must be cooperative, democratic, and inclusive.
The attack on Iran changed the Middle East forever. Let it also be the moment that the world recognizes the failure of the current path—and commits to a new one.
The choice is stark and urgent: endless war or shared peace. It is time to choose peace. It is time to choose a federation.
