J’accuse…The Shame of the Wrongful Warrants

The International Criminal Court’s arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former defense minister Gallant makes a mockery of both the Court and those who pushed for this indictment.

I checked with Genocide Watch, the founder and coordinator of the Alliance Against Genocide.  It is the international body that monitors activity worldwide that can be classified as Genocide or is on the verge of becoming genocidal.  They note the following five examples which are quoted verbatim from their latest report.

  1. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has faced one of the world’s most serious humanitarian, insecurity, and human rights crises for decades. But the UN, US, and EU have abandoned millions of civilians to starvation, war, forced displacement, and genocide.
  2. Genocide Watch categorizes the Nicaraguan government’s suppression of freedom of movement, expression, and religion as Stage 3: Discrimination. Dissolution of the Indigenous party YATAMA, and the rise in hate speech targeting religious leaders characterize Stage 4: Dehumanization and Stage 6: Polarization. Arbitrary imprisonment and exile of political opponents, stripping of their citizenship, expropriation of their property, and confiscation of the land of Indigenous and Afro-American communities place Nicaragua at Stage 8: Persecution.
  3. Renewed genocide in Darfur and Sudan – The U.N. Security Council or General Assembly should apply the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) Principles and authorize a U.N. Peacekeeping Force with a mandate to stop attacks against civilians by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)and Sudanese Armed Forces. – Both Generals Hemedti and Burhan should be charged and tried by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. Omar Al-Bashir must be extradited from a Sudanese military prison to the ICC to face trial for genocide and crimes against humanity.
  4. Slow genocide of Hazara Shias in Afghanistan – The U.S. and E.U. should release funds from Afghan assets to support U.N. World Food Program relief. – The Taliban government should be recognized only when it stops murdering Hazaras and former government employees, when women are allowed to return to their jobs, and girls are allowed to return to their schools.
  5. Turkish genocides in Syria – U.S. forces and Kurdish forces should be supported in resisting Turkish and Syrian attacks against Kurds, Armenians, Christians, and other minorities in Northern Syria and Iraq. – Turkey must be warned not to attack Kurds, Christians, Armenians, and Ezidis. – Turkey’s demand for a “buffer zone” inside northern Syria must be rejected. – NATO should suspend Turkey’s membership if it further invades Northern Syria and Iraq.

Yet none of the leaders of any of these countries have been brought to the ICC for prosecution, none have had warrants issued for their arrest and none run the risk of being arrested as they travel freely throughout the world.

It is only Israel who, in the course of fighting an enemy that invaded our country, killed over 1,200 of not only our citizens but some foreign nationals as well, and took over 200 hostages (100 of whom remain in captivity 14 months later) who is accused of genocide and brought to the ICC for trial.

And by whom?  By South Africa of all countries, which has one of the most sordid records of genocidal behavior in the history of mankind.

It is only Israel whose leadership is under arrest warrants should they choose to travel and land in Canada, France Norway, Switzerland, Austria or the Netherlands, to name those countries who could not wait to announce their commitment to follow the dictates of the ICC.  Shame on them!

r this week refused to admit former Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked to the country to speak at an AIJAC (Australia Israel & Jewish Affairs Council) meeting because she is not in favor of a Palestinian state.  Sham on them as well!

It is only the seven million Jews who live in Israel, and by association the other eight million Jews who live in the diaspora who are considered guilty of Genocide, the word coined after World War II to describe the wanton murder of six million of our brethren by the Nazis.

It is only these 15 million people in the entire world, a number that would be considered a statistical error when seen as part of the population of China, whose actions warrant punishment by the ICC and whose borders of so many enlightened nations then become closed to us.

In the face of years of genocidal activity in so many places around the world without any similar action by the ICC, it is only our response to the slaughter of 1,200 people on October 7, 2023 that justifies this action against us.  It is only what we have done in defense of the only Jewish state in the world, that justifies the ICJ to issue warrants for the arrest of our leadership……the  very first time that leaders of a modern Western democracy have been accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity by a global judicial body.

What would you call that?  There is only one name for this and it is antisemitism, hatred of the Jewish people plain and simple. And for those who will say that the ICC also issued arrest warrants for the leadership of Hamas, who really are the guilty one who are actually starving their own people by keeping the humanitarian aid for the leadership, that logic is a joke.  There is no equivalency here and every intelligent person will see that.

How truly sad that not even 80 years after the worst genocide ever applied to the Jewish people, we should be, once again, subjected to the level of antisemitism and discrimination that is rampant worldwide today.

We need to recall Emile Zola’s closing words in J’Accuse, the protest letter he penned after the trial and conviction of French Army Captain Afred Dreyfuss:

“As for the people I accuse, I do not know them, I have never seen them, I have no resentment or hatred against them. They are for me only entities, spirits of social evil. And the act I am doing here is just a revolutionary way to hasten the explosion of truth and justice.”

I have only one passion, that of light, in the name of humanity which has suffered so much and which has the right to happiness. My fiery protest is only the cry of my soul.”

It is only the “cry of my soul” that the world should realize its folly in charging us, once again, for being the cause of all things bad in the world while happily benefitting from the incredible goodness our people have brought to mankind for almost 4,000 years.  Shame on those who verify the lies of our enemies.
