Jew-Haters: Read the Memo
Dear nations of the world. When will you finally get it? We are the Eternal People.
Generation after generation, one of you rises up to destroy us. First spreading lies—how we are the root of all evil; if only the world could be rid of us. Then sanctioning us one way or another, like not buying from Jews, whether their stores or, now, settlements. Then the physical: massacres, rape and torture, crematoria.
But guess what? It has never worked. Every single effort has failed. Greece, Rome, Babylonia, Spain, European Christendom, Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union, to name a few. For, here we are. Thriving as never before. Hitler was the worst, of course. Most organized. Death factories. Succeeded in killing six million Jews. Well, how did it work out for him? And, importantly, how did it fare for Europe and the 14,000,000 million non-Jews he murdered?
It took nearly 2,000 years, including the Crusades of the 1000-1200s, the Spanish Expulsion of 1492, and innumerable killings of Jews in the name of religion. Thankfully, though, the Catholic Church seems to have finally come to terms with the Jewish people. Pope John Paul II, during his visit to Rome’s synagogue in 1986, referred to us as the “elder brother.” Pope Francis reaffirmed this in 2016.
Today, it is the ascendent Moslem world—countries like Iran and Turkey, terror groups like Hezbollah and the Houthis, and many Moslem individuals in the open democratic societies of Europe, Canada, and the United States—who are attacking us. They are attracting flocks of naïve, ignorant Jew-haters to their ranks. People who do not seem to care, if they even know, what these countries and groups do to their own people. Governments are now cowering in face of their growing and restive Moslem populations.
Perhaps everyone is jealous of us. Indeed, though Jews represent about 0.2% of the world’s population—about 1 in every 525 people of the world’s population, we account for 23%—roughly one in four—of Nobel prize winners in physics, chemistry, and physiology or medicine. In simple terms, that means that we carry over 100 times our weight in making the world a better place.
Perhaps our haters are certain that we control the world. We do not. But we certainly do know how to study and work hard in order to rise to the pinnacle of power in societies where we are permitted the freedom to get involved and help.
Those currently targeting us certainly know how to leverage our weaknesses, how to amplify people’s innate hatred of us. Today’s Big Lie is genocide. This lie, being spread by the likes of Navi Pillay, representative of the historical “quintessence” of equal rights, South Africa, is now even being rewarded by the Nobel Committee. Yet in contrast with everything else we put our minds to, it seems we are terrible at genocide. For, aside from those who have emigrated, Gaza’s population has actually grown since the war began! (Check for yourselves, if you care.)
And yet all of our haters suggest that if Israel/Jews disappear, the Middle East—indeed, the world—would be better off. Isn’t it obvious? With no Jews around, Muslims will certainly respect and not kill Christians. (Oops, almost forgot that they do so in Africa, or that Christians have fled the Palestinian-controlled West Bank, including once-Christian Bethlehem). With no Jews around, the Shia will surely live in harmony with Sunni. (Oops, I forgot that the Houthis and Saudi Arabia are always at each other’s throats and how Sunni and Shia live so peacefully together in Lebanon.) And, oh yes, Hamas will definitely create a thriving, peaceful state.
Sorry. We’ve heard it all before. It is baloney.
But what we have learned from our history is that those who seek to harm us, harm themselves in the end. They then fade away into the trash bin of history, whereas we pick ourselves up and move on.
It is time that our current haters read the memo. Yes, you, Khamenei. You Erdogan. You Mamdani. You, Abdul El-Sayed and Ilhan Omar. And now, even you Obama. Do not misread our internal fights and political divisions. We have lived with each other this way for thousands of years. And we continue to survive. It is you who cannot and will not win. You cannot defeat us. You will go down, sooner or later. Perhaps France and other parts of Europe have already begun their descent. As Haman’s wife admonishes her husband in the Book of Esther: “If Mordecai is Jewish,…you will certainly fall before him.” You can temporarily demean us. You can lie about us and blame us for the problems that you yourself cause. You can inflict pain on us. Severe pain. But we are not going away.
Fair warning. Wise up. You’re on the wrong side of history. Leave us alone. Let us live in peace, which is all we want. Let us do our thing. Then, in fact, the world can become a better place.
