Julian Assange Is a Tzaddik and Deserves Freedom

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is a Tzaddik.

Hyperbole, you say? Well, in Judaism people who spread light in a world full of darkness are considered “spiritual superheroes.” Chabad gives the following definition of this Hebrew word:

Tzaddik צדיק is a form of the Hebrew verb צדק [TzDK], which carries the meaning of doing what is correct and just. Weights that are calibrated correctly are called moznei tzedek. The judge is urged, “Tzedektzedek you shall pursue!” Meaning: that which was wronged should be righted, that which was stolen should be returned to its owner, the innocent should not suffer, and those who have caused harm shall be corrected so that they will return to doing good. Tzedek is making everything the way it should be.

Perhaps the best definition of the word I’ve ever heard is a person involved in “making everything the way it should be.”

In a world where governments hide secrets from their citizens, and use propaganda to mask those secrets while furthering a surreptitious agenda, Wikileaks has lifted the veil of corruption in countries around the world. They don’t steal secrets or hack computers; these aren’t the activities of a publisher. Julian Assange and Wikileaks simply publish information given to them by whistle-blowers. The UK has already ruled Wikileaks to be a media organization and its emails admissible in court.

I explain in this Daily Caller article why Assange should be pardoned by President Trump and in the following article why he deserves freedom.

Not long ago, I was considered by The Huffington Post to be the “Biggest Bernie Sanders Booster on the Internet.” Today I’m a Trump supporter, saddened by the reality that Julian Assange has been indicted and charged with crimes stemming from an Obama-era grand jury. I explain in my latest YouTube segment why charges against Assange are not only immoral, but don’t correlate to any legal justification.

Like a true Tzaddik, Julian Assange has risked his life to publish documents linked to the reality of war and the true nature of government secrecy. From publishing documents about countries spying on their citizens to the truth about toxic dumping in Africa and the war in Afghanistan, the Wikileaks founder has done work that most people on the planet refrain from touching.

We teach our children to tell the truth, but we then end up imprisoning publishers who defy the odds in disclosing the truth.

Fast forward to 2016 and a Jewish kid from Brooklyn almost became Democratic nominee. Little did we know that DNC officials tried to use the Jewish faith that once defined Bernie Sanders against the Vermont Senator. According to a POLITICO article titled Top DNC staffer apologizes for email on Sanders’ religion, DNC officials were forced to apologize only because they were outed by the Wikileaks DNC emails:

One email among the thousands of internal DNC messages released this week by Wikileaks showed DNC CFO Brad Marshall questioning Sanders’ Jewish faith, and suggested that painting the candidate as an atheist “could make several points difference” in several late primary contests.

“It might may (sic) no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist,” Marshall wrote in a messageto several DNC communications directors.

Of course, if it was Trump who wrote the email above, American liberals would be screaming every word from “Nazi” to “supremacist.” My latest Jerusalem Post article explains why Democrats manipulate Trump’s words to blame him for catastrophes that have nothing to do with the president.

Julian Assange published the reality of the DNC primary. The fix was in from the beginning; this isn’t the way the world should work and only a Tzaddik can illuminate the truth within a sea of lies. Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been hidden from public view, although Assange has shed light upon those conflicts. Whether it’s bank fraud or governments like Saudi Arabia funding terrorists, Wikileaks has told the truth.

Julian Assange tells the truth and exposes the world for what it is, thus inadvertently highlighting what it should be. He is a modern day Tzaddik and deserves freedom, not indictment. I hope and pray he will experience the freedom he deserved since the days of President Obama, when a grand jury was impaneled to silence the Wikileaks founder. Only when truth is celebrated and messengers are lauded with praise, not condemned with partisan contempt, can people strive for a better world. Julian Assange deserves his freedom and from a Jewish perspective, he is a human being whose actions correlate to light and truth.
