Leaders for the day after
Job alert: Hopeful, strong visionaries needed for a tiny country in the Middle East
Job description:
We’re a tiny country in the Middle East looking for a leader or group of leaders to heal the nation after its worst government and crisis ever. This is an urgent position with an immediate start date. You must be ready to defeat Netanyahu, win an election, end the war, and start the peace.
Requirements
What you’ll bring to the role:
You’re a human being with compassion, wisdom, and knowledge of Israel’s history, its strengths, and its failings.
The ideal candidate must:
- Speak great English (even better than Netanyahu and Bennett) as you’ll have much explaining and building bridges to do.
- Have a good level of Hebrew (nice to have), and Arabic (very useful).
- Bring an immediate end to the war in Gaza and the hostages home no matter what it takes.
- Stop the use of starvation as a war tactic, let in aid and medical care into Gaza, and end the collective punishment of civilians.
- Have moral integrity (won’t sell-out country to religious sects or minority settlers who want to expand territories).
- Be transparent, don’t accept gifts from the wealthy or cash from Qatar.
- Understand the Jewish values of the sanctity of human life, and never willingly let a child pay the price for terrorists.
- Pursue justice, you’ll need to round up and investigate any corrupt past leaders like Ben Gvir, Smotrich, Levin, and Netanyahu and let justice be done, but not be obsessed by them.
- Seek reconciliation not revenge on your internal or external enemies, you’ll need to bring the nation together to heal.
- Be a good listener, you’ll know how to listen to the people, not ignore mass protests by hundreds of thousands of people.
- Believe in two states, for two peoples, and get it done.
- Make a regional peace alliance with Israel’s neighbours like Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Cyprus, or even Turkey one day.
- Reach out to other partners across the world, not just rely on Trump or evangelical Republicans.
- Build adequate defenses so that October 7th never happens again.
- Plan for the long-term, not seek short-term gains.
- Use the talents of intellectuals such as Yuval Noah Harari, David Grossman, and others.
- Support NGOs that bring Palestinians and Israelis together such as Women Wage Peace, Standing Together, Combatants for Peace, Road to Recovery, Palestinian Internship Program, and others.
- Harness the spirit of the heroic people who we’ve seen since October 7th such as Rachel Goldberg and Jon Polin, Moaz Inon and Aziz Abu Sarah, Eli Sharabi, Yarden Bibas, Amit Soussana, and many others.
- Restore democracy, hope, and trust.
- Be humble.
You don’t need to be a:
- Military general
- Hi-tech entrepreneur
- Politician
- Rabbi
- Male (we’ve had enough of the ‘macho’ gever)
Who we are:
Israel is a small country with a big story. The current CEO and leaders have implemented a failed strategy that not only endangered Israelis but also Jews around the world. They allowed millions of dollars from Qatar to fund Hamas, then failed to heed the warning signs, and were fatefully ill prepared for a horrific ground attack on a vulnerable border. Since then, they have bombed, starved, and killed thousands of civilians in revenge, with a leader totally compromised by his extremist, undemocratic coalition, that has made it clear it wants to resettle Gaza.
Our key metrics
- 10 million population (73% Jewish, 21% Arab).
- 5.3 million Palestinians, of which 2 million live in Gaza.
- 70-80% of Israelis want to end the war and bring back the hostages.
- 23.4% voted for Netanyahu and Likud in 2022, not exactly a landslide victory or even a real majority. It’s a quarter of the voting-age population. Israel’s government is formed of whoever can create the biggest coalition. This coalition-building and deal-making is done behind closed doors.
What we offer
We’re a country with its fair share of geniuses and a vibrant tech scene. We have endless resources of resilience, seen by an anti-government protest movement that has been going for over three years.
Israel has the potential to be a tourist haven with beautiful sites such as the Galilee, Negev desert, Maktesh Ramon crater, Carmel mountains, Mediterranean, the Dead Sea, and Red Sea. We also have cosmopolitan cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa, and a cultural mix of Jews, Arabs, Bedouins, Druze, Africans, Christians, and the largest LGBT+ community in the Middle East. Plus, great olives and hummus.
Benefits
- Rewarding task of building and cultivating world peace
- Potentially improving the mental health of millions of people
- Competitive salary with lots of (Jewish) holidays
