Listen to Bernie’s Words

In 2016, during a presidential debate, Bernard Sanders said, “I’m very proud to be Jewish”

“Being Jewish is so much of what I am.”

My father’s relatives, were “wiped out by Hitler in the Holocaust.”

When Bernie said, “My father’s relatives…” it struck me as odd.

It struck me as disassociation.

Bernie, those beaten and starved and gassed Jews were your uncles, your aunts and your cousins.

“Bernie, in your 78 years on this planet, have you ever visited the sites where your relatives died?”

“Why not?”

Bernie, they’re your G-d damn relatives.

Own them.

Some of the six million Jews that Hitler wiped out were your relatives.

So Bernie, the next time a reporter asks you,” How does your Judaism affect your ability to be president?”

Show some simpatico for your Holocaust family.

If being Jewish is what you are, talk from your Yiddishe heart.

Associate with your blood relatives.

Show them agape and show them love.

Show them respect by telling the world their names, their ages, and how they died.

Tell the world that you have sat shiva for them.

That you lit a candle in their memory.

They died because of their religion.

They died because of your father’s religion.

They died because of your religion.

I don’t want to hear, “How much of what you are is due to your Judaism.”

If you have a Jewish soul?

Prove it!

Your kin, murdered in the Shoah should haunt your very being.

Haunt you with Hillel’s words:

“If I am not for myself, who will be for me?

And being for myself, “What am I?”

And if not now, when?”

Bernie, the time is now!

The time to tell your long lost, loved ones,” You were not murdered in vain.”

I am a Jew and protecting Israel— in your memory, is what I am all about.

I will not hurt or harm the state of Israel.
