McCarthy’s Confession

Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who is likely to be the next speaker of the House, revealed that the Benghazi investigation is a politically-motivated attempt to destroy Hillary Clinton's presidential bid, and he boasted it has succeeded.

Speaking to Fox News' Sean Hannity, he said,

“Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable [sic]. But no one would have known any of that had happened had we not fought and made that happen.”

Building on that success, look for McCarthy, upon becoming Speaker, to establish another special investigation committee, this one charged with looking into Hillary Clinton's role in the Lincoln assassination.

"He was the first Republican president; she wants to be the first woman president.  The connection is clear and we need to get to the bottom of this conspiracy," according to a source familiar with McCarthy's thinking.
