Me & Bernie

I was undecided about who to vote for but Bill O'Reilly makes a strong case to support Bernie Sanders.

O'Reilly, the Fox News windbag, said that "If Bernie Sanders gets elected president, I'm fleeing,…I'm going to Ireland."  I have nothing against Ireland – I even have several Irish relatives —  but Bill makes a very tempting offer.

In 1968 I had a colleague on the Cleveland Plain Dealer who made a similar vow if Richard Nixon were elected president.  He spent the next seven years in Canada. He came back after Nixon finally left town.

I have a very special affinity for Bernie.  I am delighted that the country is seriously considering electing my doppelgänger as president:  a septuagenarian liberal Jewish grandfather with a home in Burlington, VT.

The New York Post must think  — or at least hope — Bernie will beat Hillary, judging by the headline declaring the Vermont Democrat-Socialist "a diehard communist."  Joe McCarthy would be proud of Rupert Murdoch.
