The Blogs: Meet Tom Homan, the Border Czar of America and a dear friend of Israel

I have had the honor of meeting Tom Homan multiple times in the past, a true American Patriot and dear friend of Israel. Tom Homan, the border czar for the Trump administration, has been associated with Israel primarily through federal immigration crackdowns on anti-Israel campus agitators in the United States and U.S. foreign policy spillover threats. Tom Homan is an American law enforcement officer. In November 2024, Donald Trump designated Homan as “border czar” for his second presidency. Homan also served during the Obama administration and the first Trump administration.

He served as acting director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from January 2017 to June 2018.Tom has led the initiative for deportation of Anti-Israel Campus protests. In March 2025, Homan heavily publicized the detention of Mahmoud Khalil, a Syrian-born Palestinian pro terrorist, agitator who led anti-Israel protests at Columbia University putting the lives of Jewish students at risk. Homan warned that Khalil would be the first “of many” green card holders targeted for deportation if they abused their rights. Correctly calling Khalil a “national security threat,” Homan argued that free speech has limitations and that coming to the U.S. on a visa or resident status is a privilege with rules. He emphasized that the administration would target non-citizens participating in protests that disrupt universities or call for institutions to cut ties with Israel.

As we as a Jewish Nation have experienced escalating threats from Iranian “Sleeper Cells”, Tom Homan has taken the lead to protect both Jews and Americans abroad. Following U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear sites—actions tied directly to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran—Homan publicly raised alarms about Middle Eastern spillover threats within the U.S. border. In June 2025, Homan stated that the threat of Iranian sleeper cells within the U.S. had “never been higher”. He asserted that these alleged cells are actively involved in drug and sex trafficking to finance potential operations inside the country.

Politically, Homan has been described by Republican allies, such as Texas Governor Greg Abbott, as a close ally and “dear friend of Israel”. In public discussions surrounding border control, Homan has frequently drawn parallels between the necessity of maintaining secure borders for national security in both the United States and Israel, particularly in light of geopolitical threats following the October 7 attacks. As I hugged Tom, I thanked him for his support for the Nation of Israel, fighting domestic terrorists on College Campuses such as Columbia University and Harvard (active promoters of antisemitism) and for standing on the right side of history.
