Message from Gaza to Netanyahu about aid awaiting a response
Anyone who believes that Hamas’s criminal exploitation of the needs of Gaza’s residents by controlling the distribution of the massive humanitarian aid flowing into the Strip is merely a reaction to current conditions is gravely mistaken. This behavior is not new; it is a consistent extension of the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, the parent organization of Hamas. For decades, the Brotherhood has weaponized poverty, using people’s hunger as a tool for political blackmail and to build influence.
We saw this same pattern unfold in Egypt after the January 25 revolution. During the parliamentary elections held in three phases between November 28, 2011, and January 11, 2012, and the Shura Council elections that followed, huge quantities of food staples oil, sugar, flour, pasta, and tea suddenly flooded into poor neighborhoods. These goods were handed out in exchange for votes. And indeed, the Brotherhood succeeded in securing a parliamentary majority by exploiting the desperate needs of the people an experience-tested tactic with guaranteed results.
Today, Hamas an offshoot of that same Brotherhood is fighting to replicate this method in Gaza. After its disastrous role in dragging the population into a devastating war, and following its exposure in the eyes of many Gazans, the movement seeks to rebuild its shattered popularity using the same cynical tool: controlling aid and manipulating hunger.
Mass protests in Gaza have revealed the depth of public frustration. Crowds took to the streets calling for peace instead of war, demanding dignity over destruction. Hamas responded not with listening, but with bullets. They shot demonstrators in cold blood, and in some cases, deliberately targeted their legs to disable them turning victims into public warnings for anyone who dares to oppose.
Over the past few days, I have seen numerous heartbreaking videos. One in particular stayed with me: a young boy named Mohammed, whose tearful plea for just a piece of bread broke the hearts of all who watched. The video went viral, resonating with many Israelis, who shared it widely and called on their government to act. They urged Prime Minister Netanyahu to stop the criminal exploitation of Gaza’s hungry by Hamas.
This was accompanied by a video from an Israeli journalist reporting from inside the Strip, who delivered a painful truth:
“Arabs, do you think Israel is the reason for the hunger in Gaza? No. The markets are full of food but Hamas and corrupt merchants are hoarding it, raising prices, and stealing the aid. The hunger comes from them not from Israel.”
All this is not shared for the sake of lamentation. It is shared because there is a solution. And here, I carry a message an earnest vision sent to me by a friend inside Gaza. He has entrusted me with sharing it, a clear and actionable proposal to end this suffering.
What follows is that vision, presented exactly as I received it in word and spirit.
A vision regarding the distribution of aid in Gaza
I hope this message finds you well.
I write to you today to share my sincere thoughts and urgent concerns regarding the ongoing humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza. I kindly ask that you help convey my voice to those in a position to bring change.
As a resident of Gaza,
I am witnessing widespread injustice and despair. Despite the influx of humanitarian aid, including food and flour, I solemnly swear I have not received any food aid. This is not due to a lack of need, but rather because I am not among those willing to risk their safety by entering chaotic and unsecured distribution zones.
The current situation is marked by severe disorder, which benefits malicious actors. Terrorist groups and criminal networks are exploiting the absence of oversight to seize aid and divert it for their own purposes.
To restore order and ensure that aid reaches the intended civilians safely, fairly, and without empowering Hamas I propose the following recommendations:
1.Establish
a Verified Civilian Registry:
Compile a comprehensive database of all current Gaza residents, using national ID numbers. Every head of household should be registered. Israeli intelligence services already possess information on Hamas operatives, who can be excluded from this process.
2.Designate Secure Distribution Facilities:
Construct purpose-built facilities with high earthen barriers, concrete walls, surveillance cameras, and controlled entry/exit points with the entrance entirely separated from the exit to prevent manipulation or infiltration.
3.Reinstate Geographic Separation:
Reinforce the separation between northern and southern Gaza, where most militant and criminal elements are concentrated.
The re-establishment of the Netzarim corridor would significantly hinder smuggling and the black-market trade of humanitarian supplies.
4.Deploy Armed Security and Aerial Surveillance:
Position well-trained, armed security forces around aid distribution zones, supplemented by drones and reconnaissance aircraft to ensure crowd discipline and deter hostile activity.
5.Implement Multiple Aid Centers & Curfew Measures:
Open several distribution points to reduce pressure on any single location. Enforce a temporary curfew during distribution hours to enhance control and prevent disorder.
6.Introduce a Mobile Notification System:
Aid recipients should receive an SMS notification on their mobile phones confirming their eligibility and appointment time. No one should be allowed access to aid centers without prior registration and approval.
7.Strategic Food Supply Measures:
Before implementing the system, I recommend importing extremely large quantities of flour. This will reduce hunger intensity and diminish its black-market value, ultimately making it less appealing to profiteers.
These practical steps, if implemented, could significantly improve the fairness, safety, and efficiency of humanitarian aid delivery in Gaza. I believe they are small yet vital adjustments that may prevent suffering and restore hope to thousands of innocent civilians.
The words of my friend’s vision have come to an end but his voice echoes the conscience of countless Gazans who share this very outlook. He stands fully ready to meet with any Israeli official to discuss his proposal in detail, in the hope of salvaging what remains of dignity and humanity.
Through this article, I appeal to the conscience of the great Jewish nation an extraordinary people who have given the world pioneering minds and unmatched contributions to the advancement of humanity. I speak to the nation of Moses, Maimonides, Baruch Spinoza, Philo of Alexandria, Martin Buber, Franz Rosenzweig, Shmuel Yosef Agnon, and others luminaries who carried the torch of wisdom through history’s darkest hours.
May this message find resonance in your hearts, strength in your moral compass, and inspiration in your historical vision enough to help rescue the innocent souls still trapped by hunger, not at the hands of a state, but of a militant group.
